4th gen OEM sub in 3rd gen

I just found out a couple days ago my OEM subwoofer from my 07 base TL had blown out because it lost its "omph" that "boom" sound on the low notes and all I hear is like a "splat" sound coming from the subwoofer because its bottoming out. I have the upgraded amp by Jesse from Phantom Audio working with my aftermarket radio and let me tell you it sounds pretty damn good for stock speakers.. Anyhow I was thinking of getting the subwoofer from the 2012 TL since its only $20 more than the original one that was meant for my 07 TL.. I liked how my OEM system was sounding I'm eventually going to put an aftermarket sub in the trunk but for the mean time while I save up to look for an aftermarket one I would like to put an OEM sub that will work with the OEM amp.

My question is has anyone ever thought about putting another OEM subwoofer from another vehicle to our 3rd gen TL or i any other car?

Might be worth a try if it's plug and play. Are the 3G and 4G subs the same size?

Yeah they seem to be the same size and where the screws mount seems to be the same as well.. I just don't know if the plug harness is the same
