For all those people who are considering getting T-Mobile's Blackberry 7105t and who are concerned if it will work with HFL. You can stop contemplating and buy it. It works!!! I was in that predicament before and I decided to bite the bullet and purchase one.

And to my surprise it works beautifully. It syns up easily, caller id works, clear sound and great reception. The only problem I have seen with this phone is the battery life. But I think that is a problem with all Blackberries.

I hope this helps anyone who is considering this phone.

SRoye_98

p.s. - Signal Strength and Battery Level shows up as well.

Yeah, based on the bluetooth qualification documents it should work fine. I have used my A780 with the HFL without any problems. The A1200 has all of the bluetooth profile support of the A780 plus the advanced audio features introduced in bluetooth 2.0+EDR. The A1200 is a slick little phone.

v557 will work with HFL. All HFL features should be available.

I have just experienced an issue with my Motorola v557, where my first call gets dropped if I get a second call on call waiting and ignore it. When the second caller goes away, so does the first one! Have any other v557 users experienced this, and is there a fix? I talked to the HFL Customer Service folks, and they weren't helpful.

7100i

I just switched fron the Blackberry 7520 to the 7100i. The 7520 worked great, but the 7100i will not dial out clearly. The people on the other end cannot understand a thing I say. Incoming calls sound great.
Does anyone have one of these that works dialin out?

Thanks
George

The W810i will not let you use the cars speakers and mic to talk and listen.
For example, if you tell the HFL to call home, as soon as the call connects, someone answers. The call is transfered to the phone, and you have to pickup your W810 to talk. Same goes when a call comes in, the HFL rings and shows caller ID, but as soon as you hit the button the the wheel, the call transfers to the phone.
Go get a Samsung D600, thats what I got, much better.

I am a Sprint customer and used to have a Samsung a920 that worked fairly well with my '06 TL until it (the phone, not the car!) drowned last week. I just bought the new LG LX-350, and although initially I had tons of problems trying to pair it with my car, after I loaded two software updates onto the phone yesterday the pairing process went very smoothly.

All I know at this point is that I can use the phone to make HandsFree Link phone calls (it makes a funny soft "pop" as the phone is being engaged to dial the number, but it's not really annoying). I don't know yet about call waiting. I also was able to leave a voice mail message for someone and disconnect afterward, which is something that I could not reliably pull off with the Samsung phone (it often needed the other party to hang up first, which of course won't happen if you're leaving a voice mail message).

The phone signal indicator and the battery life indicator are both present in the dashboard but both look "empty" so I guess that it this point those features do not work with the phone.

That's all I know at this point. If people are interested, I will report back if/when I discover new pros/cons about the phone. Hope this helps!

LG LX350 Compatibility

dlksf - Thanks for the update on the LG LX350. I am also a Sprint customer and have been frustrated with their lack of good Bluetooth phones for the TL. The new LG LX350 seems interesting but it is so knew there isn't much information on compatibility. I would appreciate another update now that you have had the phone for a few more days. Thanks in advance.

TonyS,

I don't drive my car every day, so unfortunately I don't have much of an update as of yet. I will be driving it this weekend and will be glad to post an update after I do so. I like the phone a lot, so I'm hoping that it will be a good match with the car!

I have the T-Mobile SDA smartphone (same as HTC Tornado/i-mate SP5/Qtek 8300) and setup and use with the HFL is a breeze. But won't show batt or signal. My old Motorola V360 at least displayed the signal. Does anyone know of any firmware upgrade that might fix the SDA issue?

Any good news about either of these phones or should I stick with the Razor?

Finally, is there a great phone that might make me want to change carriers?
Does anyone know if the PEBL will work the navi?

Just paired up two Cingular Motorola 557's. Very smooth set up. Works great. I talked the salesman into selling the phones for $50 each with two $50 rebates. Net cost will be $0.

Nokia 6131.
I just got an unlocked Nokia 6131 of eBay and I have to say it's one the best phones out there for GSM (Cingular,T-Mobile) right now. First, it linked right away to the Acura, and works great. BTW, I sold my TL and now have an MDX, but I hope you guys still will let me post some info on this site. The MDX HFL is about the same except the TL gives the Battery, Signal and Caller-Id info, while the MDX does not. Why, I don't know. So I can't tell you for sure about what info is displayed in the HFL, but my past Nokia's did not show as much info as say a Sony. Speaking of Sony's, don't buy one. Sony is done something to there Firmware that is making it work with only Sony Bluetooth products. My Wife had a W600i first generation, it broke and Cingular sent us a new one, it had updated FW on it, yup no workie on the HFL. I had to down grade the FW to get it to work. I am selling this W600i if anyone wants it, I just got her a Pink SLVR.
Ok, too much coffee this morning, that's it for now.

I use a Samsung e720 which pairs with no problems and the signal is pretty good. However, the display in the HFL doesnt show the batteries/signal strength bars - is there any way to get these to show? Some work around maybe?

Some phones do show the battery and signal and some don't.

The brand that seems to have fewest problems in this area are the Motorolas.

700p

This is a double post, but:

Well, the phone easily pairs w/my Mac, but not my TL (06 by the way), so not sure what is up. Discoverable mode and all, followed both directions from car and Sprint, nothing yet. Will play around for a bit, but unless I post again, no go for the 700p :(

700p

Wait... I take it back! I don't know what I did differently besides trying to pair the Treo 700p (Sprint) w/out the car being on, but it paired and it works! I didn't notice battery strength being displayed, but the signal strength was. I'll post more as I get some experience w/using this thing. First Bluetooth car/phone combo ever, so not sure what to say except "it worked" for now!

Rey :)

Verizon Palm Treo 700p WORKS!

I received my Verizon 700p yesterday. I paired it with my TL on the first try.

It FINALLY shows a signal bar and signal strength, but no battery strength. That's OK....

The BT connection with HFL is more stable, too--it is far less likely to crash the phone like on my 650. Further, I don't get a high-pitched whine and a long delay to start the phone call like with the 650.I note that the Phone application was version 1.0 on the T650 (WTF? The same version as on the 600?) and 2.5 on the 700p, I wonder whether that and the slightly more advanced BT version (1.2 for the T700p) help?

In any case, all is well and I'll update about crashes over the next few weeks.

No, I don't know what would make it do that. Hopefully you figured that out by now, your post is a couple of months old. I unsubscribed from this thread and just checked back today.

My only gripe about this phone is sometimes the main screen I use ( blue with the cingular logo moving from bottom to top ) will sometimes be solid blue with no moving logo. When it does this, which is becoming quite often, the phone will still work by itself but the blue tooth feature seems to be off and the car doesn't find the phone. The only way to fix it is to remove the battery (the power button wont turn the phone off when it's like this) and then put it back in and turn it on. It's becoming quite a pain in the ass. My wife's z520a does the same thing with a different main screen.

So how has the stability been? My Cingular Treo 650 reboots pretty consistently on incoming calls unless I'm in the phone app.

I need some help. I just picked up a Nokia 6102i Bluetooth phone, from Cingular. I had my dealer connect the phone. We tested it by speaking a number, saying "Call" and it worked fine. After I left, I tried to give voice commands, such as "Transfer" while on a call. The HFL Would not do anything (?). I tried to enter a "Phonebook" by saying "Phone book". I must of said it 10 times, before the HFL heard me and responded (?). It took me about 30 minutes to get one number into the Phonebook. When I tried to dial out, speaking, nothing happened???? BTW, when a incoming was ringing, I touched the Phone Button on the Sreering Wheel, and it worked fine.

Any suggestions??

I posted this in another thread, but this seems particularly relative to this thread.

I just received my Motorola Q from Verizon ($199 w/2 year agreement). Paired easily with my HFL. It shows battery level but not signal strength. I am only two days into it but I am very happy with how thin it is and how it acts as a phone. As expected, the MS Windows is NOT intuitive and so the PDA feels like a step backwards from my Palm based phone from before. Hopefully I will become more comfortable with it as time progresses.

Treo 700p

I have a 2005 TL and I'm about to get my first phone with BT. I'm interested in the 700p. The spec says that it does not have voice dialing. Does that not matter when using HFL?

Thanks!

Go with the Motorola E815. It's Consumer Reports top rated Verizon phone and those here who have it, all report flawless operation with the TL's Bluetooth system.

I have the E815 since Christmas. Signal and battery on the MID. Works well in all aspects in the TL. I pop it open to hit the keys during a hands-free call. I "transfer" from HFL to the cell without problems. I don't think I've ever dropped a call in the car. Sound quality is good.

And the camera, at 1.3 Megapixels, is very good for a phone.

I don't use all the fancy Internet stuff and seldom text message. It does much more than I know how to do or desire to learn.
