P900 does not work with TL HFL at this moment. However, P910i seems to work.

How do you install firmware?
What needs to be done to install/update firmware into a cell phone? Do you need special data cables? Our updates available from service providers and/or manfactures via the internet?

depends which phone. Updates for GSM phones are done by service centers or individuals. Verizon and Sprint, to my understanding is done in store.

$80 is a great deal! They're ususally $300+. Was this deal directly thru Verizon or some other phone site?

Hi Everybody!
I have looked around the site and I can't find any reports on the functionality of the Samsung i700. You can purchase a bluetooth adaptor for it and then it is supposed to communicate with the car. Has anyone tried this model? I need a phone/pda...any other model suggestions? Thanks!

There are a couple threads about it but the answer is no, you cannot use a bt adapter. Switch to GSM.

Se T-637
I have been trying to find a phone that pairs well with my 05 TL's HFL and have found this to be a difficult task.
I had Verizon service and tried the V-710 but found problems with no signal or battery strength indicators working in the car. HFL Tech support doesn't reccomend this phone unless it has specific software that is impossible to find after several calls to Verzion and Motorola.
I talked HFL tech support and they say that none of the Nokia's phones will display signal and battery meters on the TL's screen. I tried pairing a Nokia 6620 and I could make a call but showed no info in the car.
My wife has an 04 TL and uses a Sony Ericsson T-637 with Cingular service and the phone pairs perfectly . The battery and signal strength meters show up well in the car and the sound quality is clear. Maybe the Sony Ericsson doesn't have all the features of the newer phones but it works perfectly with the TL's HFL. I ordered one earlier tonight.
Hope this helps.

Update on the Jabra a210?
I do not have a bluetooth phone (only 1 phone from 1 service provider in Canada offers one). I am VERY interested in learning if the a210 will allow me to use my LG phone with the HFL. Any info would be much appreciated

OK, so why is the V600 listed as discontinued? Motorola and Tmobile both still carry it.
Also, is there any one here who has it that can answer if signal strength and battery are shown? Does it auto connect and is the sound quality good?
I was going to get a 6230, but if the motorola has the indicators, I'll save a little money and buy that one.

The V505 and V551 are coming out to replace the V600 with providers, however the real replacement is the V620. If you are looking for a phone that show everything on the MID, choose Sony Ericsson.

I have to second the suggestion of using a SE 6xx series. I have T-Mobile and SE 610 model and it works flawlessly with the TL. Sound quality is excellent and battery life is pretty good. All dislplays seem to work properly and I can easily transfer calls to and from the phone.
Unfortunately for me this all really sucked because my SE P800 won't work with my TL after pairing successfully for the first time I can't get it to work again. I don't like the SE T610 as well as my P800 but I stuck with it if I plan to use it with the car. The ease with which the 610 works almost makes me willing to keep it and not give it back to my kids. Its their phone and I just borrowed it from them for testing.

I'm trying to setup my Siemens S56 with my 2005 TL, most things are working, but whenever I try to answer a phone call by pressing the talk button, it just shuts off my phone. anyone run into this problem? know how to fix it?

OK, so I took the plunge and bought the V600 (2 of them actually). There is a note on acura's web page that should be replicated here. You have to have version 9.44 or newer for it to work right. Otherwise it won't answer calls correctly.
So, the phone I buy has version 9.38 software and nobody in town knows how to upgrade the software. After extensive searches here and at howardforums, I decided to do it myself and went ot the store to buy a cable.
Now, I have to try to find PST and all the stuff that goes with it. This is easier said than done, but there are some good tutorials out there. With the help of mobilzen, I located PST 7.1 and the 9.45 flash file.
After installing these and upgrading the phone, everything is now working flawlessly.
The files are rather large, and I can't host them anywhere, but if anyone needs them, send me a PM and I can try to direct you to the site to download from or send them to you over IM or something.
So overall, we should have an extra asterisk added to the V600 with the compatible software versions and it works great.

My V600 doesn't show the battery either, but I knew that going in. I think the general rule is:
SE: bat & ant
Motorola: ant
Nokia: nothing
I feel for you though. I bought a T720 when they came out and it was a total POS. My V600 on the other hand (crossing fingers) is MUCH MUCH better. I think some motorola phones are just junk but they have had a history of solid phones and some of the new ones show promise.
Hopefully Verizon will jump on the band wagon and give you guys another choice.
Edit: Just checked the compatibility list and it says no ant for you. What is it that you need that for? I have pretty good reception wherever I go and I find that I much rather look at the temp or trip info than a couple little horizontal lines.

Then, I was just away in the mountains of North Carolina. Phone/T-Mobile was worthless while my husband's Verizon had no problems at all. And... on top of it - husband dropped my phone in the woods behind my sister's house. Couldn't try to find it by listening for a ring since there was no network on it! So that phone is gone! And I just ordered the V710/Verizon. Bought it from one of the websites linked on this site. Got the phone FREE after $300 worth of mailin rebates!
So even though V710 doesn't have the signal and battery showing in the car - Verizon has the best connection. Sure, it would be nice to have signal and battery showing, but they're just "bells and whistles". I don't consider it a problem and perhaps eventually will get an update for those features.
I also look at it this way - if you had the phone up to your ear, you wouldn't be seeing the signal or battery strength. In my opinion - clarity and good connections are more important. That's why I just went with Verizon and will drop T-Mobile.

Sony Ericson T637
I live in Riverside, CA and have service with Cingular. Just got a SE T637 yesterday and it works great. I wasn't sure how difficult it would be to pair the phone to the car, but it was quite simple. I also had no idea how the whole Bluetooth thing worked in general and that seems to get going great too. All I needed was the phone and I was good to go.
I chose this phone mostly because it wasn't a flip phone. (I just can't get into that whole deal.) Also it seemed to be the best one at a decent price. Only $39.00 after a mail-in rebate. Not bad. A bonus was that it's also a camera phone. The thing seems to have tons of other features that I'm sure I'll learn to appreciate too. So far so good. I'd definitely recommend it.

Only thing I've seen about the SE T6xx series of phones is that their display washes out badly in sunlight. I have the T610 series and that is my mine gripe. It paired flawlessly with the TL. On a note in general all my SE phones have not tended to have as good a signal strength as either Nokia, Samsung or Motorola. Out of all the phones Samsung has surprisingly had the best signal strength and fewest dropped calls.
I haven't had my TL a long time yet (10 days) but I spend a lot of time on the road using the phone. So far the SE T610 has given me excellent call quality and very few dropped calls. I still wish my SE P800 would work with the TL and I actually went down in phone features just so I could use it with the car.

what does happen with my setup is that i would be using it and all of a sudden the pair disconnects. i'd have to pick up the phone and use it that way. doesn't happen often, probably 3 times in the last six months. i was at a service dept and was told there might be a problem w/ the S56 and the TL. haven't found any threads on it yet though. i will be getting a new phone soon to replace it.

I ordered and received a Verizon Motorola V710 and the signal is real strong and clear. Big improvement over T-Mobile serice and the T610.

Found out that the part of the problem is that the phone doesn't have an antenna which makes signal weaker and the 610 is not a strong phone.

But at any rate... since you have the new v710 does it display the battery and signal? or still no display?

T-mobile did roam (I think with cingular down in NC) but still had no signal in certain areas. Caused a real mess one day when we were suppose to meet friends at a location and they ran into a delay and couldn't reach us on my phone (t-mobile SE T610) to let us know they were going to be an hour and half late.
No - no battery or signal display, but it doesn't bother me. Especially since signal seems to be strong most of the time so far. Nice to have - but no biggie.

Ohhh ok. I wish I could switch to Verizon; however, with ATT/Cingular i have unlim minutes for $100/ month, sure I only use about 3000, but its more expensive with all other companies.
Either way, hopefully in the future they will update the firmware to display the signal and battery...
