May be a bad/scratched disk or a bad DVD player.

On the pre-'07, the navi screen will turn off if you do not hit the OK button after a few seconds. It's a power saving feature.

Maybe the '07+ TLs have a similar power saving feature that will return the navi screen to the disclaimer and turn off when the screen has been idle for a while. Just a guess. It's a problem, though, if you are routing yourself somewhere and this happens.

^^

No, at least not on my '07.

If I've acknowledged the "OK" button once, it does not "sleep" or "pause" or anything. It just stays on whatever screen I had it on. IOW - I only have to hit "OK" once per start-up, regardless of time or distance.

the 07's don't have a feature like that. The only thing that could be cuasing this would be either the DVD being scratched, a bad player or a problem with the harness in the back of the player.
