2011 Navigation disc
Hey guys just looked on the website to order the new disc and it seems as though they have set a release time period for the new disc.
"Important Notice: The New 2011 DVD Map Update will be available by the end of September. You may want to consider placing your order then so you will have the most up-to-date map for your vehicle."

I'm going to get it the day it becomes available. I'm running the 3.3 disc right now and I can't take it anymore. I have those little dots all over because I'm driving on roads it doesn't know about.
I just hope it can be hacked...

Besides, even if you find a torrent, or a copy to burn, several people have tried without success. Somehow acura figured out how to protect it, even from a dvd clone, exact clone, etc. Just saying.
Pretend it's the good old days, and save up your allowance so you can purchase it legally!

hey this is great news. i was gonna order the 2010 about two weeks a go but i thought we were getting pretty close to 2011 and maybe a new one would come out. glad i didnt order and that i saw this thread. great info OP.
Thanks!
This definitely saved me some aggravation. I too was about to order a few weeks back. I thought these only came out every 2 years.
Gotta say though that mapquest through the iPhone blows our system away. Not as intuitive but the maps are constantly upgraded and the route selection is usually better...yes I have tried both...
In any regard, my quest to have the latest and greatest will still have me ordering on line in a few weeks :-)

I have the 2010 disc and I can say that it is accurate 99% of the time. I don't think I'm gonna be upgrading my disc anytime soon, within the next 3-5 years. For those who are still running discs before the 2010, its time for an upgrade. The 2011 will definitely do the job.

Guys, these disc upgrades usually come every 2 years or so. Yes, you might be able to get something from your iPhone too, but if you REALLY get into the Nav system, it's really pretty good. The discs will be $185.00-and usually they'll offer a free shipping special.
IIRC, the breadcrumbs and "unverified roads" notification can be turned off using the Navi "Settings" (a button to the left of the joystick).
The 2010 disc was on sale over the summer for $150, I think. I guess they were clearing stock for the 2011 disc. If you can wait until next summer or until there's another sale, that might work. Also, if you're on a really old version you could check craigslist and ebay for a semi newer version. Someone out there might be selling the 2008 and 2009 disc which will be better than another with the 2004 or 2005 versions.

I'm sure there are missing streets on the DVD. I also noticed some clear errors like having the wrong names for exit ramps and so on. I was looking for an email address to let them know about this error but couldn't find one.
Do these new discs help with better routing??
I have the original disk for my 05 and I feel like the GPS is stupid for lack of a better word. I have to double check it's route and half the time end up making my own route just based on the map and it turns out quicker - this usually results in select explicit language, extreme aggravation and aggressive driving to blow off the steam :silvermad
My girlfriend's Garmin is better than my built in Navi :-/

If it is missing streets on your toures, then yes, the updated disc could help with routing. I'm not sure if the content of the disc itself has anything to do with the routing, but I think you can change in the settings menu between items like shortest route, fastest route, etc.
yup. i think its a lot of money but the city where i live is growing rapidly and since i bought the car last year many streets and poi's are not there. there has been lots of construction since then too so i believe it will be worth it for me. and also when i take a trip and try to find the nearest shell gas station it is wrong like 90% of the time and make me waste time.
I wished, they don't charge an arm and a leg for a map update. If they sold it for $99,i'll be more inclined to buy one, but $185 ... I'll stick with my navigon on my iPhone. kthxbai
Really how much better can the new disc be? I live in Jacksonville, FL and most of the roads are named wrong in my TL. 07 TL-S and these roads have been in place and named for 30+ years and nav. has wrong and different names on it. Sop I would not be surprised if you spend $200 and your dots are still there. I recently drove from Sicily to Rome in a rented base model Benz. This car hands down had the best factory nav. I have ever seen. I wish Acura would take some pointers.

for now, i look places up on my blackberry google maps app, then i plug the address into my navi. i'm running the 2006 disc. it's frustrating finding places like dunkin donuts in a in-dash nav (my acura or my subaru) because their databases are poorly put together.
i am still loving the in dash nav for looks and stuff, but i'd almost rather buy a nuvi then spend $200 on an updated disc.
i'm going to scour ebay and CL for a 2010 disc and see if someone who has to have the latest and greatest is giving it away for under $100!

My experience with these discs is that they run at least 4-5 years behind with a lot of street updates. For $185 I expect better. I can understand not having something in there that is less than a year old due to the timeline for production of these, but several years is unacceptable.
