2004 TL Alarm Disarm Wire..

Well I installed a remote start unit yesterday in my dad's 04 TL. Didnt take long at all to install. I thought everything was working fine, because I remote started it a bunch of times to test it. It turns out I was remote starting it with the car unlocked, and when I finally went to show my dad the final project the car was locked and when it started the factory alarm went off.. I do realize there are alarm disarm wires on the dei remote starters, but I never had to use these before even on a couple of the other cars I did that had a factory alarm.. I cant seem to find a diagram of where the factory disarm wire is. A couple people told me its in the door, but dont know what color it is. I would prefer to grab this wire at the kick panel or something, because I dont feel like fishing wires into the door panel. If anyone can provide me info about this wire, I would really appreciate it!

nobody can help with this? Also, I cant just hook the disarm wire from the remote start directly to the car side, right? I need a relay.

There is ONE way to not have to go into the door...

You can buy a kit from http://bypasskit.com. It taps into the car's data bus and can do a lot of things from there including locking/unlocking doors, arming/disarming the factory system, popping the trunk, door triggers...

I'm a dealer now and just ordered one for my 2005 TL. Should make my life easier.

P.S. The one you want is the XK01 w/ the HODL4 firmware.

I heard about those things.. That would also mean I wouldnt need to use the dei 556uw with the key in the box that im currently using right? I may get one, but no one can seem to give me an answer whether or not I will need a relay or not for the disarm..

You do not need a relay for the disarm. It's a negative pulse that's required.

You would still need a transponder bypass with the XK01.

that unit is expensive as crap... I figured it would be like 30 bucks. But 105, is more then my whole remote start and everything required. I was browsing through the dei remote start manual and for the disarm it says if its a - use a relay this way.. and if its + use a relay another way... Ill give it a shot without. Anyone know off the top of there head if the door is easy to fish wires into? Is there a molex connector at the rubber boot, or is it opened.

Use this one . Only $32 shipped, no key required. Also, the 556HW does not require a key either.

On the page nfsquared linked, make sure you buy the PKH-3 which is for the TL. Also, on that same page, they have the HODL2 which will take care of lock/unlock and arm/disarm as well as give you a door trigger for $49. You might be interested in that.

As for fishing wires into the door (if you are still going to do it). It's pretty tricky. You have to remove the door panel (not tricky), then remove the speaker. Then remove the rubber tubing that covers the two molex connectors. Then you pop off this plastic piece that holds the connectors in there. Then if you look at the connectors (on both ends) you'll see that there's room for some wires in some unused spaces. I ran 6 very thin wires through there. Then you have to fish it through the rubber tube and into the body of the car and of course into the body of the door. Make sure you tie up the wires nicely so they don't get caught on the window as it goes up and down.

I also tapped into the seat memory 1 button inside the door so when I unlock my doors, the seat and mirrors go into the right position. Cool.
