2 questions about navigation

1)I usually drive with the audio screen and hit the audio button to show it if I am on a map screen. Is there a voice command to show that screen?

2) Is there a way to turn off the voice that has the turn by turn prompts while following a route, while also leaving the voice for readback of commands. I have found it a little annoying that the radio keeps cutting out when she is telling me to turn here and go there. I would prefer having just the visual of my route but don't want to lose the other voice feedback. I have found only the all or nothing instructions in the manual.

Thanks

The more I check out the navi the more questions I seem to have, so here's one more. When playing a track on cd can you display the time remaining instead of the time played.
Thanks

I don't believe there is.

In setup menu you can turn off voice prompts.

When you are on the Audio Screen the command "Display Map" will take you to the Navigation screen.

To return to the Audio Screen you have to hit the Audio button once again. I have not been able to find a voice command that will display the audio screen.

As I read... It seems there are 2 (cumbersome) options.. Either turn the voice off in 'setup' or lower the volume.

In those 2 lame options, would both still allow voice commands from ME? And, if one hits the voice button in the lower left corner - would any of the 2 options give me a loud voice when needed (when I can't look at the map screen)?

Yep, I turn off voice prompts because I hate the constant interruptions as the original poster stated, but the voice button in the bottom corner allows me to hear the current instruction whenever I want. Great for checking how much longer you are on a never ending road !!!

Yes: If you have the voice turned off in the setup, you can still issue voice commands. However, you will not hear a confirmation, just dead air for as long as it would have taken the computer to say it. I have no idea if this affects the voice in the HFL, but I think it would be seperate as the non-navs also have HFL.

I set mine this way on long trips where I use the nav to display distance and do not want to hear: "Stay on 20, Stay on 20, Stay on 20" everytime I appoach the smallest interchange.

And there's no easy way to shut the voice off other than going to
"setup", "page ?", find the voice button and hit "off" on the touch screen?

That is NOT safe to do while driving. I see this as a serious flaw in their thinking. Very cumbersome and dangerous. Pretty hard to pull over on the highway or other areas like the city. It's sad there isn't one button or a voice command to toggle off/on the map voice!

true, thats the only way to do it for now. Believe it or not, it took me over a year to discover you can even turn the voice off. I am pretty sure you can do it with the sound of your voice as well without using the touch screen.

I love the Navi system, but the voice can get real annoying at times.
