2 12w6 or 1 12w7?

Well.
i'm trying to get 1 12w7, but twice the sub arrived broken. I am now considering 2 12w6. Should do it?

most definitely. you will be much better off with 2 12w6's. Just make sure you can find an amp that can dish out 1200w at 4 ohms. If not, get 2 amps - 1 for each sub. 600w @ 2 ohms each.

Have you looked into any other subs? How much are you looking to spend?

Don't let anyone sway you on brand. you've made a great choice already!

2-12w6v2's will be louder than a single 12w7...

w6's do sound better than a W7...they're geared more towards SQ and the W7 is more of an SQL woofer...

Like always tho...the install has everything to do with the sound. Neither will sound good in a cheap prefab enclosure, so be sure the enclosure is built to woofer specs...

FYI...a member on DIYmobileaudio.com has (2) 12w6v2's, (2) 500.1's, and a sealed enclosure for $650 . JLs don't hold their value very well in the DIY audio world...

thank you all for the advise. i already have JL 1000.1v2. will 2 12w6 do ok with this amp? I am planning to build 1(w7) or 2(w6) sealed corner fiberglass box. i know one of our vendor sells it, but i don't have $400-$800 so i decide to try DIY.

again thank you all.

It will be fine, but you will have to wire up the DVC at each sub to 8 ohms, then connect the subs to the amp output in parallel to bring it down to 4 ohms.

Unless the 1000.1 will be stable @ 1 ohm? I'm not too sure about that.

I'm not sure either but I think the 1000.1 puts out the same wattage from 1.5-4ohms (JBL amps are like this also)

FYI...it would be louder if the subs were facing the rear of the car. Have you ever done any fiberglassing before?

This is correct. That's why I'm not sure about 1 ohm. I'm sure Jason or eggyfussles (oops - typo) would know for sure.

haha, I would say a great deal of the type of sound comes from the type of enclosure. I have a w3 with only 250 watts and it sound at about 500. Its pretty impressive once I tell people what i got in there.

I WOULD NOT run that amp @ 1ohm...however you will have some ohm rise depending on the enclosure.

it would run fine...but just ask yourself...y you would want to do that!

what does 500 watts sound like? and how is it different from 250 watts...that comment made me rof and laugh...

do you want it to sound good or do you want it to bang? are you willing to deal with rattles?
