Cool 10" or 12" Sub in Stock location?

I did a cursory search of the forums to come up empty. I'm contemplating putting in a 10" IB subwoofer in the stock location but I'm not certain how much cutting will be required on the bottom side and if there are any problems I could anticipate.

Looking stock as much as possible and trying to keep as much trunk space as possible is my goal. Who's put a 10" sub or even a 12" in the stock location? Pictures and suggestions are appreciated.

Ummmm I didnt attmept to put a bigger speaker in the stock location due to time of making a bigger hole and the sound quality.

If you want to do something that willl save trunk space get a custom box for the wheel well which is what I did and make a custom amp rack for it and you save tons of space.

Unless your really set on putting a 10" in there.

I've thought of not making a bigger hole though. My thoughts are putting the bigger one in but not making the hole bigger in the decking. So the stock grill will still be there but there'll be 1" of speaker all the way around extra. Subwoofers, i would think, don't need the grill to match as much as the other speakers because of the frequencies.

you will create a rattle nightmare that way. With some of your sub sitting directly under the back deck, you could possibly create a situation where the excursion will hit against something. Even if you kept that under control, I don't see how you could get anything other than muddy sound out of a sub in that location.

Hmm. If I'm going to build an enclosure then I'd need to get an 8" huh? Which one, out of the ones installed on here, hits the lowest of the 8s?

Going from a 12" to an 8" is a bit of a switch but if i can just get that low-end rumble I'll be happy.
