'08 TL non-navi radio display going down?

I have searched and cannot locate a similar issue so here I go.
Yesterday I was driving and went to turn bass down due to a headache. When I pushed in the tuner knob to select bass it came right up but them immediately started to flash intermittantly back to the tuner radio station display and back to the bass selection. It does this on each area such as trebble, fader, balance, etc.
This morning I went to manually tune a station and when I turned the knob the next station was playing before the display caught up to where I actually was.

The only modification done to my stereo is the addition of a Peripheral PXAMG PGHHD1. I will try to get to this tonight to unplug and see if it alleviates the issue. You think I am nuts for doing this or is what I describe something that happens to the stock radio that I didn't search correctly for?
I put in the peripheral in 2008 right after I bought the car and cannot remember how I installed it other than I had the console apart to hide all wires completely. The car has 48k miles so I will totally remove the peripheral unit if it does not solve and bring into the dealer for repair, pretty sure the warranty is to 50k, will verify.

Any ideas? Peripheral a known problem starter?
I saw a ton of posts on navi issues, not radio specific.

I went ahead and disconnected the peripheral tonight and the radio display and performance issues went away instantly. Problem solved.

This has been an intermittent problem for the last 2 years, finally issues were permanent as of this week and I had a reason to look further. Disappointed as the ipod interface wasn't cheap but it is par for my luck. I am happy that it was only that on the other hand, nothing serious or hard to find like a loose ground or a fractured wire inside a visually good wire casing, yeah took me two weeks to find that gem with a multimeter in my one car. I was ready to light that car on fire but would not give it the satisfaction.
