07 non-navi head unit into 05 non-navi

Hey i know there were some threads about this but I can't find anything searching for it. As the title states, has anyone done this?

My headunit is fine, but I hate how it doesn't play MP3s. 07 plays MP3s right? If so, then I would like to change it up because I can get one for dirt cheap. Is it a direct replacement or does it have to be custom fitted and rewired.
Any input is appreciated. Thanks
