07 Navigation Conversion Clock Issue Fix

Some of you may know I have been inquiring about schematics and parts along with other information so that I may complete the 2007 Navigation conversion completely and glitch free. I have been planning so far not yet installing. Some of you may also be aware that the 2007 drive in pre-07 vehicles or with 04-06 displays gives incorrect time from 1AM-10AM. I believe I have pin pointed the culprit to this problem with the help of another fellow member who led me onto a page he found in the ETM explaining GA-NET to be the main communication bus in 07-08 vehicles. Which I have also learned now contains a sync signal. View the spreadsheet I put together and you can see the differences between the model years.

Where 2004 once used a Disp Bus Signal, the 2007 relies on GA-NET which sends that information now to the display control panel, and also has the sync signal. Could this be why there were issues with the clock?

So in short basically I believe the 07 screen is necessary with 07 navigation drive as there is an apparent change in hardware. The 07 drive needs a display that can understand the GA-NET information.

Ask Jayv. In post #6 he said he used an 07 sub screen:

I talk to Jayv frequently, he has been a main source of most of the schematics and information on this conversion. I am just putting all of this together. And I am not referring to the sub-screen, the sub-screen is the screen that is above the vents. The sub-screen is integrated into the system by connecting directly into the main display. This is what I am referring to in my above explanation. The main display must have hardware that can understand the GA-NET which is only available in 07-08

I think you got it!
I know this problem well. Another point to make is that the sub-display is a dummy device and takes it cues from the main display. I had narrowed it down to either the main display or the audio unit, being pretty sure it was the display.
Off the top of my head, I don't remember if the connectors are the same. So, it may or may not be an easy upgrade for me to swap the display.

The only connector that is different on the 2007 display is the one that comes off of the radio. Here I put together another spreadsheet that shows the difference between the two. From a diagram I saw in the ETM for the 2007. The Light blue connector which is different than the green one that comes from the radio is a 22pin connector. Same one that comes from the navigation unit.

Here is the differences in the pin out between the 2004 and the 2007

The 22PIN connector can be acquired from GeekEng.com

Just for verification here are the following plugs so you can see the difference.

CONNECTOR A- Plug that comes from radio in both the 04 and the 07

2004 CONNECTOR A

2007 CONNECTOR A

And also just so you can see that they are Connector A for the 07 is the same style plug as Connector E from the Navigation unit here is a picture. Someone please correct me if I am wrong if any of you have seen the plug from the back of an 07 and can verify that they can interchange.

I hope this helps with some unanswered questions and thoughts on the differences.
