'07-'08 Base Display in '04-'06 Base
Polo, can you try to assist me and finding some. I don't see any threads on this, and i want to know that it will fit, plug up and work.
I dont know what he means about the colors, I'd like further clarification on that also. I know the buttons on the side are the same part numbers, so they have to be the same shape also- which would basically mean the screens dimensions should be the same. But i just wasnt sure with the difference in the radio in 07-08

Another thing I just saw is that the type S clock shows red, along with some other information. I wonder if I could add than in in conjunction with a base display.
there is someone here that did it but didnt post anything on it just that he got it to work. he found the wire diagram for both displays and got it to work and thread died lol but this was back on 2012 i just sent him a message to see if he can help
I found out everything I needed to know. This can be done. 99% of everything is exactly the same.... the only difference is the connector is i think a 21 or 22 pin vs a 14 pin.
I havent given up on the idea, I just need to actually look for a totalled 07 so I can get behind the radio and get the connector and a few inches of wires and then just connect them.

Nice!!
Im in a group on FB for TL and someone did it and we has a good convo. How much did he charge you for the harness or that part of the harness that connects? Ive seen the display online on ebay for like 200 or so, because the ac control buttons are the same on the left and right... Def keep me posted on how the install goes (Not that id do it myself, but just about time )

It's pretty good yeah, but then again I had to wait for the guy to find the harness. Haven't received it yet (darn postal services!) but anyway I'm only getting my car back Friday night. Hopefully I get time Saturday late afternoon to do the swap, otherwise who knows when it'll go to...
For your information Jperk I still haven't received the freaking thing although it has shipped. Guy took the longest #!%& shipping option so hopefully I get it this week...
So it's "relatively" plug and play. You will need to solder the new connector to the car which you can then plug in the HVAC display. There's 12 wires:
7 which are simple match the colors
3 which are "the colors sorta match" -> red to pink - blue to baby blue - white to grey
2 others that are not matching -> orange to green/orange and black to blue.
Everything works as far as I know, but don't be like me, unplug your battery before wiring. I blew a fuse, #7 which is 7.5 amps.
It's my HVAC being turned off right now, but I assure you it shows the temperature as well as fan speed and other settings. I think the car in the middle is supposed to have a compass but I couldn't not find more information about this. If that's the case, that one thing doesn't work for me.
After verification, one would need the electrical compass unit, which I do not have and do not plan on getting. I will revise the post as I believe some things might not have been connected properly (inverted audio unit ims 0 and 1), plus I want to take pictures.
So anybody aware of what is needed for the Navi sub display to be ported to a non-Navi?
I've seen a lot of people say it takes nearly everything... but that's surprising to me. Is it just a matter of connectors? Because really that's what it was for 07 retrofit of the HVAC display, and that can be worked-around by connecting it directly if you don't have the connector.

I think it really boils down to the circuit board, opposed to connectors.
The navi has connectors that communicate to the sub display, whereas the non-navi is all within the same unit.
It's most likely possible to do, but I can't imagine it being as easy as pairing connector wires together.
Most likely opening up the display board and lots of soldering involved, assuming you know what pin does what on the circuit board.
Now that I think of it, it seems less possible.

Well whadya know, you actually have it.
Thanks man, always resourceful. I might take up on your offer at some point.
Edit: I can definitely what people meant by "you need a bunch of parts" though. Sub display on left but depends display panel CU + audio unit both built-in the audio HVAC display module.

If the later, yes I highly recommend. It's really easy, all you need is the harness and even if you don't have it you could get away with ghetto rigging it. The biggest pain is definitely removing the whole freaking dashboard to get to there but otherwise it's breeze!
