'04 TL Acura TL Non Navi To '08 Navi Conversion
Yeah, it is a lot of work. What can I say, because the CDN model came without a navigation, HFL and XM. Bottom line is that it was upgradeable and worth it!
What happen to the sub display? Have you contact the from eBay seller I gave you or does he not want to ship it to Puerto Rico? If you have any more questions, pm me. Thanks

Hey ppl. I am in the midst of this conversion, or somethin similar. I got the stock harness stripped down to navi wires only...i have a 04 display, subdisplay etc. looking to get the navi brain from an 08. I noticed theres an extra harness on the new version. if anyone has the 08 etm and can look up the pinout for the 'extra' plug on the back of the navi drive, pls let me know. the plug is a 7 pin green, the 04 etm only shows 2 blk (20 and 8 pins) and 2 green (14 and 5 pins). Will the 08 drive work on the 04 display? ive got the whole project mostly planned. puttin in rear view laptop connection for carpc apps and dvdrw for movies, etc. im fairly good with wiring- already installed a custom neutral safety interlock system for the rem start on my 6spd
Let me know if anyone can help

how much and where did you get the plugs for the navigation unit? the 3 black ones. ive been looking for 3 weeks and have not found a thing. also do they come with pigtail harness or would i have to do that myself? lastly what tools and things would i need to make my own harness out of the plugs?
I have an 04 w/o Nav and I want to Install the 07 nav sys w/XM.
I will buy the Nav harness on ebay but the seller does not make the plug conversion for the radio. I'm talking of the old 26P connector. Now I have an 40P.
And how did you manage to convert the old antenna plug for a 2P connector
I would like to put pics so it could help but I don't know ho......

i believe everything works except the screen resolution will be a little off. Someone would have to confirm the bluetooth though.

Hi everyones,
It's been a long time since I've spoken with anyone from here because of my car accident. I've not recover fully, but I'm doing better than before. I'm here to request some help. My car has been scratched already and I cannot recover it, however, I have a navigation, sub-display, rearview camera, nav-traffic and handsfree unit with connectors included available for anyone's interested in purchasing. Feel free to personal message with your e-mail, name and phone number. All units are in working conditions.

I'm debating on buying a 04 tl because it doesn't have navi and of course no navi so no reverse camera but it appears it is possible to add. Does anyone know of a company or a referral for somebody to install a navi plus reverse cam in the dmv area? Thanks
I have an 04 Acura TL with a base radio and i bought a 04 navigation screen from EBay to put in it. What connectors would i need to just make the radio display. Im not looking to hook up the gps and all that i just want the radio controls to be available on the screen.
It wont show anything if u have the display only. u have 2 get the sub display + navi unit and the wiring harness 2 work.
Which harness
lawrencesharma
First of all, these are only oem parts.
Second of all, this is 08 navi systems converted from my 04 non navi
And third, I haven't plug-in a camera, therefore, the navi diagnosis showed red.

Lol, see this what I got today! I know I still need a sub harness for that.

Which harness did you buy for the camera? I'm doing the same but can't find the harness to connect the camera to the nav unit. Purchased the sub camera harness but am still missing one to connect to the nav.
Hi, Does anyone have the capacitor specifications for the 2008 hfl module. I have 4 capacitors out on mine and I want to buy them an replace them. Unfortunately, these capacitors go by manufacturer and they are the only ones who know the capacitance and voltage for each. You can only measure capacitance on working capacitors. Can someone help me? I have a picture of the ones out.
I know this is an old thread, and a ot of you guys are still looking in to this, but why in the world would you want to do this? i mean wasn't it a lot easier to put double head unit in, or convert it in to Nexus 7 like many of you do?
So I know this is old but can I get updated pics they all are deleted. Or can I buy the dash wiring and add it to the non nav base TL 06 ?
It took me about 9 months to complete the conversion due to troubleshooting.

Here’s the mirror issues were found as follows;
# 1 – Microphone/the part is on the way. (after I remove the interior light and found nothing inside, that’s why need to be order)
# 2 – XM Antenna/still thinking how to install this, need to drill hole…(I have the original cable and the antenna)
I still have to finish the mic sometime next week..... the part on the way. For the XM antenna, I still figure it out where I suppose to place.
If anyone want to know the troubleshooting, please feel free to ask and pm me…Because the 08 EMT is wrong!
