alot of stuff is controlled thru the navi tl's, HVAC, GPS, Radio, and a bunch of other stuff. GO to the trunk of the car and on the right side, you should see the drive, open up the covers and push the eject button, if the disk comes out, make sure you have a 3.xx disk which is orange (2004-2006) or a white disk 4.xx (2007+) ONLY. IF YOU HAVE AN 04-06 TL, A WHITE DISK WILL NOT WORK, IF YOU HAVE AN 2007 TL, AN ORANGE DISK WILL NOT WORK. If the disk is the right color, try cleaning it and reinserting it.

Will the other controls like HVAC and Audio not work without the NAV DVD?

I suspect (a semi-educated guess) that the Touch Screen Controls will not work. The Navi is not booting, so no Touch Screen. The Manual controls should work fine.

Should be easy to check though. Ignore the disc messsage and push the "AUDIO" button to the far right of the joystick. If the radio controls are going to work, thts the button to try.

The manual, non-Navi buttons don't work? That doesn't sound right. What about fuses? Have you checked them?

I predict a trip to the dealer service dept in your future.

I know you're new, but you don't go posting randomly in other peoples threads.

You topic has been discussed elsewhere, but you may need to use "SEARCH" to find it. I am not familiar with the Navi installation/conversion threads.

areez, my friend, I just went through the same EXACT thing your going thru with the 04' TL with my 04' TL I just picked up. I bet the anti theft light is blinking and it says check cd like you said. However , I was able to use my HVAC buttons but not any radio/navy buttons. What I did was first, I had to acquire the navy dvd, the correct one should be orange for yours and insert it in the back dvd player, I've come to understand this dvd player is for the navy dvd only. At that point, it should automatically download the navy info into the system. You will be prompted to enter a code in, it will be 4 digits, this is the navy code. The way to get it if you don't have it is you need to find out what dealership originally sold your car if you bought it used like I did, give them proof of purchase ( I faxed my bill of sale and drivers license) and they should give you 2 codes, one is navy and the next you will need to activate all radio controls, the radio code, which is 5 digits. Normally these codes are included with your car manuals , on a small card or the card is in the leather pouch that comes with the car originally. Search the car for the codes first if you don't have them, look in glove compartment and on fuse panel, but I doubt you will find it if you don't have it already. Alternatively, you can bring it into any acura dealership and they will take your dash apart and get the codes off the back of the radio/navy units at about a 100 dollar fee. To go about getting the code at first I called the closest acura dealership near me and asked for service, you give them the VIN and ask what dealership originally sold the car, they should give you a dealership code, trace it on google if they can't provide you with a phone number and then you can get those codes up and running. I had to talk to about 10 people before I got this straightened out and it was a huge buster, let me know if you have any other questions, fellow TL playa.

Thanks for the info. It looks like I will have to wait till I get my hands on the NAV DVD and then see if everything works.
