Yeah! I'm so excited!

I had just spoken with the bank that'll be financing my loan and they'll be cutting me a check for my 6MT, non-navi, AM/ebony TL!!! However, my car is located in New Jersey, but I'm here in Georgia. Because I had heard from them so late, I had missed out on a really cheap one way ticket to fly out there. Now, the price has increased tremendously! Oh fark it! It'll be all worth it when I pick her up this Saturday. I guess it'll be a nice break-in process, too.

Also, I had read that you shouldn't go beyond 75MPH during the break-in process, right? This will be a lot of highway driving and I had read some really good write-ups regarding how to do the break-in properly, i.e., use the off-ramp once in awhile to go through all of the gears, vary your speed, down shift/up shift once in awhile, etc. Anything else I'm missing? Please let me know. Thanks!

Sounds like you got the break-in process down pat. I read that you are supposed to be easy on the brakes too, but that may be different with the Brembos.

Also, take frequent stops as the smile on your face from driving might become permanent, at least that's what I have heard.

If had the navi you could have then set it to avoid highways and taken the scenic route. But, you don't have the navi, so just have fun and try and enjoy the new ride and scenery. You'll love the 6MT!

Which dealer in NJ? I'm picking up mine from Ramsey Acura on Friday. Regarding Ramsey Acura, the process has been very professional and I would recommend them based upon the process so far. (I've been dealing with Bob Seckler). This may change, however, when I sit down with the finance manager on Friday.

Gadgets, I haven't even had the car yet, but I'm smiling from ear to ear! I'm just reminscing about my test drive in it last month. Ahh, it was so sweet!

Silver Bullet, I couldn't justify the extra $2K in a navi that I'll rarely be using. I hardly go out of town. And if I do, I have a handheld --- a print out of my destination from mapquest.

ghughes20, I'll be picking it up from DCH Montclair Acura. My salesmen are Kevin Chang and Jeff Scalar. Very professional guys and I can't wait to meet with them so that I can close the deal.

Is it cheaper to simply have your car shipped to a dealer closer to you for delivery? (Counting airfare, gas on the return trip, food, possible lodging?)

When I bought my car it cost $200 for them to bring my car to NC from Tampa, FL. (Although I bought it locally, which granted is a different situation.) Still, it doesn't hurt to check that option. The worst that can happen is they say no...

I had thought about that option, too, but that would mean I'd have to wait a little longer. I've waited too long for this car and now that I can finally afford it, I'm going for it. Besides, once you get the car, you look for an excuse to go driving any way, right? So, why not make this a perfect excuse?

So much flak given to people who buy non-navis.. man. I've had a loaner 05 RL since last Thursday and it's Navigation system has been cool, and I'll have it in my next car, but it's still a PITA sometimes. It plans trips 750 miles away, directs me long ways to places, and today even directed be down a dead-end road! It has a lot of errors, but it's supposedly the best system.

My next car is an RL, so I'll have navigation. But I don't see anything wrong with leaving it out.

Yop! I've already printed out my return trip from Mapquest. And it'll be more than 500 miles that I'll be putting on the car. Since Mapquest likes to route people the long way rather than the short way, it'll be a good opportunity for me to fully enjoy the car and break it in properly. I've never owned a car with navi before and I can certainly live without one in my new car. And if I were to go out of state again, I'll either use a rental or fly out if it's really far away. No need to rack up extra mileage on it.

UPDATE:

I had spoken with my salesman and he has informed me that the car is stuck on the train somewhere in Albany. It hasn't arrived at the dealership yet. We're hoping that it arrives on Friday so that I can fly out on Saturday morning to go pick it up. Since most of us are off on Monday, that would give me plenty of time to drive from NJ and back before the next workday starts. The wait is so agonizing!

yeah, i hate waiting and i hate delays when it comes to new cars. mostly because i can't stop thinking about it and end up not getting much done.

one of the reasons i didn't wait for a navi 6MT... i have a PDA with VGA screen w/ bluetooth GPS nav, on which i can play mp3s, movies, video clips, games, etc... oh yeah, and scheduling and less important things like that, too.

anyway, enjoy your ride home saturday, mn2trance. don't forget to take your digicam and take some pics here and there.

Thanks dude! And thanks for the reminder! I have to charge the batteries to my digicam so that I can do a photo blog of my trip. I just hope I don't forget anything else once it's time to pick her up. Here's to another sleepless night worrying about the car. First it was about the financing, and now this. ARGH!

UPDATE PART DEUX:

Well, the plan to fly out during Memorial Day weekend fell through due to the car not being on the lot. However, I got a phone call from one of my salesmen today saying that the car is indeed on the lot, but he's triple checking it to make sure. Let's hope it's there and that I can finally go pick her up this coming Saturday! I've been losing sleep because of this.

UPDATE PART TROIS:

It's confirmed that the car has indeed arrived on the lot. I have already booked my flight out for Saturday. Now, I just wish the work week would come and go quickly.

The second part is the exact reason why I didn't get one with navi. 2000 extra bucks? I may have a TL but I'm still a cheap bastard. Hell, I'll bust out my cell phone and activate the GPS if I get lost.

Thanks ITL! One more work day left after today. Good thing tomorrow will be a short day since I'm going to a departmental cookout. What a way to kick off the weekend, eh?

I agree, Russdaddy. It's nice and all, but I'm not a heavy modder.
