sorry but its that time of the year and everyone's buying new cars.

So here is my story. I had a 2000 i30 and 2 weeks ago I got into an accident and decided to not fix the car and move onto a different platform. Since my brother's MDX has been nothing but great and how his wife's family drives nothing but Hondas I decided to leave the dark side (Nissans/Infiniti's) and see whats this having a reliable car thing is all about.

Im really considering a 04 TL 6mt with Nav I found in the area. It has 78k miles and the dealer is asking 12.5k. The color combo is not my favorite but Im sure it will grow on me, but right now im mostly concerned about getting a nice car that can get me to school and work.

So what do you guys think? Is it a good deal? Is there anything special I should look into?

Sounds like a good deal but i would try to get the price lowered a bit. Also try to choose a color combo you like because you will be stuck with it for a while

I like all of the colors. My friend has a gold TL and its hooked up right and looks nice. I knew someone with a blue one and I loved it, white grey silver black and red are all colors that I have seen and wanted them all because of the way the owner made it look. As long as its 6MT/NAV you can't go wrong.

 

^ Definetly agree. Its called Deep Green Pearl (I think) and Tan interior. Definetly not ugly and Im sure with some tint and a great detail it will look great. Might do some bolt on's later on but right now have to pay for school so thats out of the question.


Is there anything I should be worried about? Do these trannys have the 3 gear synchro problem? (if yes, pls provide a link if you dont want to go into any details.)

If you do get the TL, call Acura and provide the VIN to check for recalls. There are a couple for the 04.

 

I believe the recall was for the 04 TL with automatic tranny. they had the issue with the 2nd gear. unless you are referring to a different recall.

Welcome! That color is rare! But if you mod it just right, it can look pretty sweet!

In my opinion, wait a bit to find the perfect car, unless you need one right away. As in one for cheaper with less miles. 6 speed of course!
