XM flipping back

First time posting long time reader. I am having a problem when I change my channels on my XM radio via the steering wheel channel button it sends the XM back to channel 1 (Promo). Anyone have a fix for this? I have already renewed with XM and the problem still exists. Xm said its Acura's problem. Acura said bring it in. Dont really want to send my car to the shop. Thanks

I have not had this problem. Sounds like you'll have to take it back to the dealer to get it looked at.

I had the same problem and figured it out. The steering wheel controls only work to switch the XM channels that you have programed into your radio keypad, like you program your local radio stations. The radio can remember both. You can program 12 stations. Press the XM button once for XM-1 and then program 6 stations then press the XM button a second time for XM-2 and then program another 6 stations. The steering wheel control will then cycle through the 6 programed stations in either XM-1 or XM-2. If you don't program the XM stations, the steering wheel controls allways brings up the introductory XM remarks. You can't use the steering wheel controls to cycle through all of the XM stations like you would intuitively think. Hope that helps!

Yeah, that is correct.

It does stink that you can't flip thru all of the XM channels only the presets. 12 is not enough!!

Yes that is what I meant. I really like XM, but if the channel is not one of my presets it falls off my radar and I don't listen as much to it.

However, I do use the scan feature to check out everything. Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust the scan mode to sit on stations for a bit longer than the 5 seconds or so that is default?

yeah same here i like to surf through the stations but there are too many to just go straight thru. i use the category filtering to narrow it down but it sucks because you have to scroll through the categories and can't jump to a specific one.

I think you can arrange through the XM folks to have entire sets of stations blocked. Thus, if you don't like country music, you could probably ask to have all stations in the country category blocked to try and cut down on the noise.

Personally, I find that 12 presets is just about adequate for me. I put the music stations I listen to frequently on XM1 presets and the news/sports stations on XM2 presets. I've also taken to using the Category mode, so the dial just flips between stations in that genre.

totally agree. thought there might be a voice command so i tried "xm category comedy" but it didn't work so what i did is those 12 preset buttons i programmed them to save a category and from there either scan or use the dial to change channels w/in the category

You can have channels blocked... but be careful! You cant just logon to a web and block and unblock as you wish.... And you neve rknow when someone riding with you will want to hear country.. or another music you dont like.. I think its good to have them all available!

12 is not enough for me.... I would likeat least 18... but I make do.. I go to one of the presents then scan through that neighborhood.

Category mode's drawback is that using the regular tuning knob, in category mode it ONLY gfoes through one category.. so its an extra step to press the category buttons to change category then use the knob to go through the cateogry.. too much hassle for me.
