XM activation charge
I went to the website and as I was filling out the form the activation for $9.99 was checked. I just got the car yesterday. I typed in the code too. Did you call instead of going online?
My dealer did it for me while we were doing the paperwork, but you can do it yourself. The procedure is covered on page 128 of the owner’s manual. I think you have to call them to get the free 90 day trial period.
You will need your VIN and the radio ID number. You can get this by tuning to channel 0, and the number will appear on the display.
The owner’s manual says you need a credit card, but for activation for the 90 day trial period you do not need to furnish it.
They will tell you to go out and turn the radio on and leave it on, I think for 45 minutes. Make sure it is outside, because if it is in a garage or doesn’t get the signal, it won’t activate.

Thought I would add something quick on this. My trial just ran out a few days ago and when I called and spoke with the XM folks, they told me "if you let the trial expire and then want to start it up again, you can do so and their is no activation fee to reconnect". It was explained to me that because the subscription is basically a monthly subscription (although annual and multi-annual is an option you can set up with them), they would have no problem simply reconnecting the service. The only fee attached is a $2 statement fee should you want them to send you a bill whenever the next payment is due. Hope this helps a little more. Thought I'd share since I just went through it.
