Wrong Gas!?!?
Wrong Gas!?!?
I was filling up the other day and was not paying attention, when all of a sudden I looked over, I was filling with Regular gas (87 Octane). I know the TL requires 91 octane, and I've been using Super (93 octane) for all of my 7000+ miles. The book says that it is o.k. to use Regular gas once in a while, but my question is, have I dont damage to my car?? When I get down to half a tank, should I fill the rest up with Super?? Can you mix gases??
No problem mixing gas. You end up with the average of the two. No you haven't done damage. You "might" hear a bit of ping on hard acceleration, but just let up and it will usually go away. The more hours you have on the engine will make the ping worse... I guess due to deposits. We had a subaru that was really picky on gas. it required 91 octane. if it got a tank of 87 it would ping like h3ll. But it was a real good indicator of the gas stations that were ripping the customers off with 87 being sold as premium. ( in CT)
I will be right there. I will pump your tank for free and bring two gals of 93 for you to get to the next gas station to pick up some free 91+ octane gas...

it will be fine drive it 100 miles and top off the tank.
