would you reccomend a TL?

ive been looking in to what kind of car i want to buy for a few months now. i was stationed in florida and am about to go on a 4 month deployment, after which i will be buying my car. i love the way the tl looks, inside and out. not to mention it gets good gas mileage and can comfortably fit 4. i wanted to get owners opinions on it. is it reliable? would you reccomend it? do you like stick or automatic better? are there a good amount of modifications and aftermarket parts available? any and all imput would be much appreciated.

You already know what kind of response you'll get in this forum lol.

I personally like it because its stylish, mature, and its at a very affordable price. Trying to branch out of the teenager civic/integra crowd.

For an entry level sedan, the car is equiped with a lot of standard features, only thing optional is probably navi, backup sensor, and transmission.

Theres a lot of hate though about the TL's front wheel drive while comparing to say... the infiniti G35/37, BMW 3 series, lexus, but the handling is still very good, and not everyone who drives these cars do frequent "speedings"

Local gas milage is poor, I average 19 mpg, but highway can go as high as 26-28.

Aftermarket parts is kind of limited i think, but i dont plan to mod my TL too much. just a-spec, rims, suspension, tint, and some minor modification to keep it clean. this car doesnt need too many things, because it looks and drives very well already =)

not trying to be biased, theres not 1 bit of flaw i find on this car right now. hope this helps and gl finding that TL if you plan to get it!

my nephew is in the market for a new car also he has boiled it down to either a 09 accord coupev6 or a used 07 is350, used 07 g35 they are all within the same price range give or take a grand or two but my advice to him was to get a leftover 08 tl or tl-s if he can find one lol.

I spent about a month or more looking into it, getting excited about it, and then buying it. It gets better and better every day you own it.[/quote]

There are a lot more than I thought, but not everything like say, for a older Acura Integra or Honda Civic.

Basically, you should love it.

Yes, I would recommend it. Additionally, I would recommend getting a Type-S in MT.

HAHAHA I find it hilarious how people will come onto a forum for a specific car and ask people on the forum, who are car enthusiasts for that specific car, and expect to get unbiased, realistic opinions. Obviously everyone here loves their TL overall since a) they have one, b) they are on a site dedicated to the car.

I would suggest reading so Motor Trends reviews or something of the like so that you get an unbiased opionion on how the TL compares to others in its segment.

The TL is a great car with good reliability, it's a nice mature car that can be fun and sporty as well. A 6spd. Type S is a great car, but people still try to beat it down to the point that it is still FWD and not RWD.

If you want something good on gas, cheap to insure, has tons of features standard (easier to look for a used one) and has some aftermarket parts, go with the TL.

If you want something ok on gas, cheap to insure, has a ton of optional features, has a bit of aftermarket parts, is RWD and has more power, look into the g35/g37.

Nou, you'll love a TL. GGESQ had a good idea with the Type S too. I bought mine a year ago because I was looking for a sporty car that had a great luxury feel to it as well. And, because it's a Honda, you've got reliability and it will run forever as well. It also has a great sound system and is a comfortable car to drive. Also great resale value.

Don't pass "Go", don't collect $200-find yourself a TL.

LOL the TL is not fast as f--- ... but it's a nice all-around player for $30k, I would recommend it.

if someone wanted more power, I'd recommend a G35/37 hands down

if someone wanted more "status" I'd recommend a BMW/Benz hands down

if someone wanted a purebred AWD system, go with an Audi

But i'd get my TL again ... just wish it had more torque

From the first time I test drove a TL, I've always said, "It's not just another luxury car, it's an experience"

I never looked at any other car in its class after that drive. The TL is worth every penny I'm gonna spend on it.

The other nice thing about the TL is that there weren't too many other "packages" besides the base model and navi model. So you don't have to sit there and figure out what other options you wanted in your car, most of the options were all included in one beautiful car.

I still go out to the garage and just admire it.

I love mine, it is has been a really good car.

I would definitely get Navi, and also recommend the manual. A type-s would be even better.

The 6 spd offers stiffer suspension, LSD tranny, and Brembo brakes.

I also commuted an hour and a half for the first year of ownership. It's a great commuter. Quiet, sporty, and can get over 30mpg on the freeway.

I'm incredibly happy with my purchase and I'm very critical. Not a single problem in the 72,000 miles I've owned it.

I get compliments all the time and I think the design will be a classic for many years.

To break the monopoly here, the things I don't like are:

Paint durability. My black paint was severely sandblasted from all of the freeway driving. I was told by the bodyshop when I got it repainted that all new cars have thin waterbased paint so maybe it's not just the TL.

Moddability. There are plenty of aftermarket parts but you should be fairly happy with the factory power because you don't get a lot of bang for your buck with mods. I don't care about speed in my daily driver anyway as long as it's average so it wasn't an issue for me.

FWD. Again not an issue for most people and it keeps me out of trouble.

The handling will impress if you give it a chance and push it's limits. It has more bodyroll than some of it's competition but it actually outhandles most cars in it's class. An aftermarket rear sway bar will change the entire attitude of the car in corners, highly recommended and by far the best bang for the buck mod.

as much as I enjoy my TL, apart me wishes I waited and purchased a lexus IS 250. I hate how my interior rattles and the gas milesage sucks, but i love my navi and the comfort compared to my rsx.

the lexus is250 is underpowered and the back seat is too small. If you don't have kids I guess thats an option but if you need a back seat the TL has the most room in its class.

^^ If every single member with a 3G TL WITHOUT transmission problems posted a thread about how well their vehicle is holding up, this forum would be pretty damn boring.

Sure there are members with tranny issues but those members pale in comparison to those of us without any tranny problems.

Quick Reply: would you reccomend a TL?
