Would you?

Just getting a couple opinions here. Do you think it would be worth it? I mean I know when it comes down to it, its my decision but a little extra input never hurt.

I have my TL for sale (not here on the forums) but on CL, and someone sent me an email regarding a trade.

My TL:

2005 Nighthawk black pearl automatic (no nav) 145k on odometer couple dings and scratches throughout (normal scratches from daily driving). Black interior. All maintenance on my car is utd. New timing belts at 108k, waterpump, drive belts, front and rear main seals, axles, p/s hose, p/s pump, brakes, rotors, ss brake lines.

Their car:

2001 acura integra gsr 150K on odometer minor scratches. Its the deep violet almost black color w/ black interior (leather). B18C1 engine with 12:1 CR. CF type R front lip and wing gramm light wheels

Does this sound like a decent trade? I'm going in a couple days to check out the car and see if it's something I want compared to my TL.

Why am I getting rid of my TL? Just kinda ready for a change. I've had my car for almost 4 years and the maintenance costs are killing me (I'm a full time student and work limited hours) and would like something a little more economical while I'm in school.

it's an out right trade. His car for mine. I need something a little smaller other students at school aren't the brightest or most considerate. He needs a bigger car for his wife, according to him. I'm just not sure, I got my car for a really good deal back in 2008 and I'm sure I can get another one later down the road if I'm not happy with his DC2 integra.

Have you seen the teg? If not go look at it, and get it checked out by a mechanic. If it seems like a good deal to you then do it. Dont settle just because you want to trade, you can always back out. Good luck and keep us posted.

Yep. Paid it off about 2 years ago. (I worked 3 jobs saved money every chance I could) and paid it off early to save for tuition.

I'd keep it . Youve already done the most costly maintenance item . Plus you dont know if the car had its timing belt and water pump done .

I'd keep it regardless . You will miss it once its gone !

Yea , i dont really think you want to pay for the timing belt job twice ! Granted it wouldnt be as much as the TL but still expensive to do . Luckily , ive owned 2 GSR's ( DC2 & DB8 ) and now i have a TL , id never down grade that much ! The GSR is nice but deff not that comfortable compared to the TL and the power isnt their . You would miss it way to much and plus their are to many unknowns about the other , seller could be dishonest and not tell you a lot about the car and you could potentially be forking over a lot more money than you think youd be saving . In my eyes , its not worth it . With the TL you know what you have and know its reliable .

Just another "vote" for keeping it! Definitely would be a downgrade.

If there was a chuck of cash that came with the teg then maybe. But outright? No dice. The TL is worth more than the teg.

At the worst you could sell the TL then purchase a smaller more economical car. But I wouldn't pull the trigger on that trade.

I would keep it. I have owned a few Integra's and they are cool cars and easy and fun to mod/work on, but they don't hold a candle to a 3g TL, in my opinion.

Sounds like you're keeping it which is the right move IMO. Youll get more for your tl than the gsr when your out of school.

Or bobby digital might pay extra if you've got XM

What problems are you having with the TL, exactly? What maintenance needs to be done?

Guys, both of you-stop. This is ridiculous. You guys are crapping on a legit thread with you're own internal bitch session.

Both of you-knock it off.

OP, I would walk away from this trade. You already have most of your maintenance done unless your car is nickel and diming you.

But look at what you typed. You want something that won't cost you a bunch of money but you posted a B18c1 with 12:1 compression ration. You really think that is going to be an awesome daily driver. You need even better gas than what your TL already requires. ALWAYS.
Not to mention possible problems down the road.

Who built the b18? or did he just pull the motor apart and slap in some pistons and put the new rings on and call it done. I would want a build sheet with all specs.

Sounds like you have the 7 year itch and just need to tough it out. Or at least get something on the move up not down. Or buy a teggy and build it up yourself while your car still runs.

I'm just saying!

Terp my friend, you asked for it with this kind of response. Don't expect me to defend you in the future like I did in the other thread.

That said, on trading for an (arguably) lesser car and giving up 4 yrs to boot, I don't see how this trade benefits the OP either. IMHO, there needs to be some money compensation paid by the Integra owner to even make the trade thinkable. The modded Integra just sounds like a breakdown waiting to happen. A 12:1 compression ratio yada yada yada in an 11ish yr old car.....no thanks.

Edit: Unless it was taken care of like IHC's Buick. Only then would I think about it.

Let it go Terp. Everyone has the freewill to make their own decisions and we all have different priorities when we buy cars. To each their own...

you're doing yourself no favors by a straight up trade. Keep the TL..i can never go back to a 4 cylinder car unless it was turbo charged.

i love my TL's chewbacca growl.
