Where are you? Well either way dealers know that this car is in demand, especially an S. So because of this the car is going to be too expensive from a dealer. Chances are you're going to opt for a base. If you really want an S, then save up more. Good luck

personally I would not touch a car with 168K on it unless it was given to me for free... there are too many thing on that car that are approaching the end of their useful service life like shocks, suspension pieces, rubber bushings, etc... not to mention you will need another timing belt at roughly 210K
remember that whatever your budget is to make sure you have money left in case something goes wrong soon after purchase. that is the risk with buying a used car. something going wrong only increases with the budget you have set. save up.

Here is my opinion: If you have limited budget and looking for cheap and high millage car - don't do it. It will cost you more that you expect. Usually they don't sell you the car that is in perfect condition and it will probably need lot more $$ invested in it before it goes on the street. I have learned my lesson twice already with my previous cars. If I were you I would look for a non S TL with low miles. You will be more satisfied if you know what I mean. My 2 cents
Since your in So Cal...it may not be a Type S..but it is Manual with the A-spec kit...

I just got an '08 Type-S and they're awesome cars but not exactly cheap to own. I've been mostly just commuting back and forth to work over a few days and I've already used nearly half a tank of gas. This is premium gas we're talking about too.
I'm in the minority, but a Honda/Acura is probably one of the few cars I would not hesitate to purchase with 160k+ miles with the intent of driving it for another 150K. Sure, you have maintenance to do and all, but every vehicle is that way.
Honda/Acura for the most part is extremely reliable. There will always be outliers and people that have nothing but problems, and any As-is used car purchase is a gamble, but if this is a manual trans car - I see no qualms. If its an auto, I'd be a bit more reserved, but I'm that way with ANY automatic, regardless of history or brand.
This isn't the late 80s or early 90s anymore. Cars are much more reliable in general. Even craptastic cars from US co's can go 200K with ease. I think regional constraints also have impacts on users' perception of mileage. My commute (when I go into the office) is 45 miles one way. When I had my 05 TL, I put 42K on it in a year and a half, and that car still looked absolutely beautiful and had not a single issue. Had it been 42K miles of stop and go LA traffic instead of steady state cruise, there would be more wear on most components, but not in my case.
Check where the car came from, inspect everything you can, and make your call. If it's a dealer, they may even offer an extended warranty if that gives you the warm fuzzys.
