Definitely looks cosmetic by just lookin at it. Definite repaint, new bumper, I'd prolly push for headlights too including bulbs, same deal for the fogs. Your car definitely looks great to have been that close to a fire and didn't burn up. I'd definitely check the stuff that's not visible. Check under the car, pull the engine covers out check every inch possible of the whole front end to make sure. Mostly looks like cosmetic damage from the heat, but its never hurts to double check. I'm not sure about the $1600. Seems like it should be more to cover parts and labor. Thanks for the update and best of luck.

Quick reply here. Your car barely has 52K miles on it. Nice! Headlights LOOK fine initially, but I do wonder if the heat will cause them to haze over quicker after awhile. That's I mentioned them.

Besides the front bumper cover which has to be replaced, I would check the rubber subframe and control arm bushings along with the radiator end tanks. You could have had more heat from underneath the car than from the front. I would push for new front tires as well. That kind of heat will ruin them even if they seem to drive ok. Push it as a safety issue and have it noted that you wanted them replaced. Make sure they know if there's an accident it could be blamed on the tires. My guess is that all plastic cladding under the car is going to be damaged as well.

$1600? that might cover your front bumper and your fogs. i heard the wiring harness is obscenely $$$.

adjustors... other possible damages won't be known until you put the car up on a lift and take a look at everything (as IHC mentioned). once the car is broken down it's easier to find where there could be potential damage. get the car to a shop of YOUR choice in cali and out of UT then let the shop fight for you. hopefully you've been shopping around for a reputable high end shop in cali to take it to that'll take care of your car once it gets there.

1600 is like headlights and a bumper cover. They better cough up the rest of the cash.

That seems too low, check with the adjuster because I'm sure the settlement includes whatever deductible the carrier has. It could be $500 or more & you'll have to chase the carrier for it. You need a front bumper plus new headlights & foglights, plus the bumper needs to be painted. Unless the adjuster is just giving "Shop time" to repair your existing bumper. Be sure to pursue it & don't give up.

Thanks guys! Definitely going to ask the shop to get new parts for the front end. My headlights were flickering to before moving the car...so might as well ask for a new set with a new ballasts. Fogs will definitely need all new set. I'll update again as soon as they move it to my shop.

in Canada 1600 would cover the bumper and paint easily 650. headlights do look fine and fogs arent much. But who knows about deeper damage. based on first look 1600 seems fair. There isnt much electrical behind the bumper and it looks like nothing burned through, so there was protection. Goodluck and let us know how it turns out

I'm pretty sure you can tell the adjuster "No" and ask for a better price. The carrier's insurance should have to pay the replacement value.

About the same time your TL burned up my girl friend had her Honda shipped from NY to MT. 20 miles outside of town the hauler flipped and crushed everything. The insurance adjuster is trying to give her the run around also. Stick to your guns, demand more money. If the adjuster refuses, simply ask to deal with another; they aren't all bad. Good luck

I dont think $1600 is gonna be enough. You should try to get em to cover the cost of an interior cleaning if it smells like smoke in there.

Quick update. Had the shop bring the car back from Utah and is now in the shop. Insuranced paid the coverage for having the shop move it. The shop has gotten approve for a new bumper (2007 bumper) hehe.

However I'm kind of confuse on one situation. The insurance already made a check out for me for the initial repairs...however the shop here asked for more cause it wasn't enough to cover the CA labor to fix it and for the parts. That being said, will the insurance cut the shop a new check for the new estimate? Also got conformation that it was approved by the insurance for the new estimate. What happens to the original check they sent out to me? Is it void now or can I cash it in? Or would the insurance just be cutting the shop the difference?

I'd call the insurance company and tell them the situation before you do anything.

keep the check that the insurance gave you. you will need to pay the shop with that check. the insurance adjustor will need to come back out to do an additional estimate on the new issues that the shop has found. let the shop deal with it. once the new esitmate has been written, the check you have, and the check from the insurance company directly to the shop (for the difference) will pay for the repairs of your vehicle. you will need to sign over the check you have to the shop.

So the shop ordered the new 07-08 base bumper for my 06 TL. However they said that its not a direct fitment and i need new headlights and upper and lower mesh grilles? Does anyone have a parts list of what i need to make that bumper fit into my 06? I also have the accord mod fogs wired up also and it still works...so if I were to get a new set of foglights for the 07 bumper, would i be able to plug it in directly into the fog housing? (I think i need a different HID bulb for the 07 fog housing?) Anyone can chime in would be great, going to the shop tomorrow to see what the next step is.

I answered your PM.

the 07-08 bumpers FIT WITH NO MODIFICATIONS.
its a direct replacement.

the only thing that might be different are the grilles.
my 06 grilles DID NOT work on the 08 bumper.

Fuck that... that is the worse. I'd rather it go up in flames.

The heat from that fire was quite intense.. you should be worrying about a lot more than just bumper and lights.

What should i be inspecting for after i get my car back? Engine bay looks like fine to me, just dusty. the frame looks in good condition when i went to the shop yesterday when the bumper was off.

Also another issue, when the new bumper is complete and installed, I would imagine by CA laws to have a front license plate when i get new plates, however my 06 bumper had a black bumper guard thing that held up my MA license plate until i told it off, which left a good looking dent/marking of a license plate being there. What should i do now about my license plate for the setup? Go without it? Or is there a softer guard for the license plate to hold up against the bumper.

cali will get you for no tag.

either get the new bracket for the bumper and pad the contact points OR the other option is to get the offset look of the RHO bracket (i think that is what it is called) that uses your tow hook to mount the tag away from the face of your bumper.

Ordered Depo 07-08 foglights from USR and is on its way! Ordered Morimoto 3five H8 3000k HID lights for the new housing. Quick question, I have the accord foglights before, and have the DDM HID kit in there, however the accord foglights take H11 bulbs, would i just take out the old ones and plug in the new ones and it should work?

My tsx was rear-ended about a year ago. The other driver's insurance sent me a check to cover. While the body shop was fixing it they noted more damage. I signed over the original check and the insurance co sent a check directly to the body shop for the difference.

Since Ca is a 2 license plate state you take the risk If you have only one. You Might never get stopped. Ca like other states aré in need of funds so they aré more eager to get them. When in Ca a few years ago I went to a acura meet in San Diego. A few TL owners had only 1 plate and were not stopped.

front tag is a secondary offense....usually they like to get you for the tag when your car is parked and the cop is in a bad mood.

here in VA...they'll pull you for no tag, expired inspection, loud exhaust and tint too dark...

Nj is the same. They also pull you over If you remain in the passing lane, can move over to the right lane and don't.

I've never run a front plate on the TL and I've never been pulled over for it. My other car has a front plate but it says "Grand National" so I don't think it counts lol. I wish they pulled people over for remaining in the passing lane out here. Way too often you have a 2 lane highway that has a half mile long passing lane and some idiot pulls out into the passing lane going under the speed limit next to another car going under the speed limit and they sit there. You end up with people passing on a double yellow or the right shoulder to get around them.

If I were to order the OEM license plate bracket for my TL, is there any difference from these than the ones you buy from like Walmart or autozone? Does anyone know if this will have something to prevent imperfections to the bumper?
