Wood/Carbon Fiber Dash Kits

Hey, I just wanted to let you guys know that if anybody is in the market for carbon fiber, aluminum, or OEM wood dash kits, that www.exoticwooddash.com has them on sale right now. I just ordered the wood kit to go with my parchment interior. The price was $196, but now the kits are $176. Just a FYI for those interested.

I'll let you know how the kit turns out as far as the match to the original wood in the car and the ease of installing it. I'll also post some pics up.

Wood looks ghey in the TL. Carbon firber looks nice. Search the forum, there are photos. I wish they had an "aluminum" kit to add more metal to the interior.

It’s a matter of taste. I had a mustang with the carbon fiber in it for a few years. I wanted something different now. I like the wood with the parchment interior. I think it gives it a nicer luxurious look in my opinion. But, to each his own.

BTW, I believe they do have a brushed aluminum kit. It’s a little more expensive than the carbon fiber and wood though.

wood looks good in the parchment interior, but the metal ruins it...

Pleased with wooddash kit

Ordered the full 23-piece wood add-on kit from exoticwooddash.com and had it installed by a local auto shop experienced in this. Very pleased with the result.

By the way, doesn't the TL already come with carbon fiber inside? Like the pieces by the shifter and accenting the aluminum trim.

try woodtrim.com, they have aluminum trim. they can send you a sample to see it matches. IMO it matched but i didnt go with it because it was too much aluminum.

Do they have a big rectangle of plood to cover the gaping wound where your navi should be?

No Bolt. But they do have a piece that covers the big gaping hole in your wallet from buying a 2000 dollar map.

I like the look. Very nice. But the blue christmas tree air freshener has to go.

You could have bought an Accord and saved $9000+ right? You chose to spend more for the same four wheels, the same transmission, the same four doors.....

You should have spent the measely $2000 for the map. You bought a luxury car. A luxury Honda. Why get cheap with the most luxurious feature of them all?

All of your above statements are true, while not literally, certainly figuratively. However, what you fail to realize is that not getting one is a choice not, "being cheap". If I wanted to spend twice as much on a car I could have. I simply made a choice for myself that a $2000 map wasn't worth the cost/benefit ratio. I don't fault others for choosing it, no doubt it's cool. Most people that can afford a TL could easily afford 2K more. If they couldn't, they were too close to be buying one in the first place. Valid, choices, not "being cheap".

They just have a slightly different piece for the navigation system.

I'm not going to get into a childish debate over the pros and cons of a navagation system. The only purpose of this thread was to provide some info and pictures for anybody that wanted to see what the kit looks like with the parchment interior. One can then see if it fits their taste before they purchase one. Some might hate it, others might love it. To each his own.

There have been plenty of posts about this subject. I for one did replace the Black Carbon fiber pieces with the OEM plood pieces that come in the lighter interiors. Then I added the kit available at exoticwooddash.com. You are able to purchase an overlay kit that would go over the existing Black Carbon pieces to be consistant with the plood now that was not available when I got my car. I would still have put in the original pieces rather than the overlay kit though if I had the option. Send me your e-mail address and I will send you pics. A couple are posted on a recent thread though. I think the title is Brucedeb1 wood kit or something similar.

I gotta tell you... I got rid of a black on black Toyota Solara Convertible with body kit, chrome rims and a supercharger.
I also had the carbon fiber interior dash kit. I liked it for about 2 months... Then the temps changed and the plastic carbon fiber started to curl and look like hell. I would never, ever do it again.
Unless someone makes a real kit that installs in place of the factory pieces, not applied over them. It looks exactly like it is... Cheap imitation to make the car try to look better. Believe me. You will not like it. It just does not have the finished rounded look of factory... not to mention all the grit that collects where the sticky part is exposed.
You want burled wood or carbon fiber? By a Jag or a Rolls. But don't junk up the clean interior of the TL!

Of what functional purpose is your "wing spoiler"? Do you exceed 150 mph often? The map / voice / navi would have been a better investment, no?

It's 4 times less and gives a change to the physical apperance of the vehice. Nav doesn't give a change to the appearance. Don't get me wrong though, I do like the nav. and I fault no one for choosing it. My comment was meant in fun as was yours. I'm just saying that these were well thought out choices by people.

The walnut looks good with the parchment interior but not the quartz. I installed the walnut shift knob in my white 04 with the parchment. Very elegant. Why cant Acura use genuine wood on a $35,000 vehicle anyway?? Anybody find a steering wheel with wood trim for the 04 TL? Would that look out of place on the third gen TL?
