Dude,

Do a search. There are plenty of windshield threads. You'd best read up on your insurance coverage and not assume.

yes thats nice,,, but does it say OEM or not- if not specified guess what you get- be glad its not a fender- glass has to meet or exceed DOT specs,,metal parts dont

aftermarket glass is fine and may be the real maker of OE glass under different name- there are a few places that make 90 percent of the glass used in the usa,,call 5 glass shops and all will say `I can have it here this afternoon` and all are within 10 bucks of each other
Thats because 1 company is the glass warehouse for the area~~~ everyone goes to them for the glass they need that day
Sure the glass installer keeps a few fast sellers in stock, but its way too easy to let someone else stock it and bring it over in an hour

look at the glass for DOT

comprehensive would cover cracks from rocks or debris damage to it- breakage by vandals etc

those with 500 deduct on glass are screwing themself-(lesson learned) you can get it for 350-450 cash price
they charge insurance 600-700,,you are out 500 instead of 350,,
lower the glass deduct to 100

some insurance will send glass repair truck to you for a small chip or crack- at no charge to you, keeps it from getting bigger and needing windshield

acoustic layer- you gen3 guys have everything!!@

Sounds like you did ok. They did mine with the non acousti glass and I couldn't figure out why the car had so much road noise. A few days later I checked the receipt and saw the $190 windshield. I made them replace it and problem solved.

I had always assumed the acousti glass was for wind noise reduction but the biggest difference was road noise. I guess it turns into a large speaker of sorts.

FYI, for those of you with USAA, I just got approved for OEM glass at no extra charge (not including my deductible of $250). Made it 6 1/2 years with the original windshield, but a big frickin' rock finally got me this week

One a side note, the Safelite (USAA contracted glass company) guy told me that they no longer carry PPG. He told me that Safelite now makes their own brand of windshields to include their own aftermarket equivalent of the acoustic windshields....

FL law requires insurance companies to cover the replacement of the windshield at no cost to the owner. I've had mine replaced several times. OP, glad you got it done and with a good windshield.
