Window tinting question

Has anyone had any problems tinting the back windows of their 2004 TLs. I was told that some places have had problems with tint scratching in the back windows.

Welcome to the forum!

You're right, a few people have had problems with their window tint being scratched by some of the seals inside the door panels. I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the front windows can have this problem too. For more info., check out the following threads:

And for future reference, the 3G Garage is a great place for all kinds of information. Also, the search function can usually help you find info. quickly as well.

I can't remember anyone reporting a problem with the back windows, or anyone ever installing moleskin in the back windows.

The problem is always in the front windows, and the thread references refer to the front windows.

We were unlucky enough to experience scratched tint on the driver's door as well as both back passenger doors. Oddly enough there was no problem with the front passenger window.

The tint shop installed the 'skin on all four windows. It's been about two months and we don't see any evidence of scratches on the tint.

I hope everyone has been contacting ACS to let 'em know that this problem needs to be corrected. Maybe they'll make a design change for future models. Please do it for the children!
