Window Tinting - Dealer or ??

I have a 3G TL - it's Black on Black so the leather is getting really hot during the summer. I've been reading a lot about people getting their TLs tinted by 3rd parties and because of the tight window seal, the film gets scratched all the time and they either have to: a) moleskin or b) keep replacing.

So I'm curious, is it better to have the Acura dealer install OEM tint (what's the going price for this job for those of you who had it done)?

thanks everyone!

Go 3rd party

I would recommend finding a GOOD shop. (i.e. friends who have actual experience with them) and have them do it.

I have been using the same shop for 12 years with GREAT results. I let the dealer do it when I bough my acura, and was sorry. The dealers usually have a guy who comes to the dealership to do it. that is bad news as they do not have a controlled environment. there were a lot of very tiny bubbles on my windows. you have to look real close to see them, but I notice those kinds of things. they removed the film, refunded the money, and I went back to the shop I normally use.

The shop I go to has an enclosed bay so that there is no dust / wind movement. they did a perfect job.

the dealer will happily take your car- have someone outside do it and add 30 percent for their cut
Or go to a place- ask how many of your exact car they have done and what do they use to prevent scratches from the seal

Just got 15% on the 5 back windows. Cost me $175. Looks great. The way I found it was to google automotive window tinting and my town name. There was 1 good review and 1 bad review. We went to the good place and it was good.

Don't wash em with ammonia. Good luck.
