The best tint on the market is the LLUMAR Titanium. If you can ask your tint guy to redo or credit you to have this installed from another shop. This is my 4'th vehicle with this stuff and I've never thought twice about my tint.

The guy who did my tint is telling me that the inner door panel needs to be sanded down so as not to scratch the plastic. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, and I need more advice on this.
In the meantime, the guy offered to redo it for free. I have not paid him, and I told him that I'm not sure I want him to do it for me. I don't want him to sand down anything until I'm sure what the deal is.
My other two TLs had absolutely no problem, and this guy tinted those cars as well. He uses Llumar by the way, but I don't know if he used it on my car.

On a previous thread about the same topic I think someone said the door panel has to be removed prior to installation and a felt strip inserted somewhere to prevent the problem. It sounded like the author had a cracker jack tint guy. Maybe if we can find the source we can get more info. This isnt the only mention of scratches and this concerns all of us and Acura. They need to know right away if this is a consistent problem.

This was posted by Donte99TL. Might want to PM him or he may volunteer more info here about his tint guy. What exactly do we tell our local tint shops etc...... "When I went to get a quote on my 04TL from a tint shop they quoted me like $325. I asked why did it cost so much. He said it because they need to remove the door panel to install felt so it doesn’t scratch the tint. He said there is a rubber piece in the door that rubs up against the glass and will scratch it if no felt is applied. I think this is what is happening to you guys with the scratched tint."

Just had my tint done yesterday - it makes the car look SOOOO much better. Notice that cars in ads ALWAYS have the windows tinted! It emphasizes the lines of the car.
My tinter has done 7 cars for us so far, and uses Johnson window films with a lifetime warranty from any Johnson dealer. I get the medium 55% tint. From inside it seems that there is little loss of light, but from the outside it looks great. If I can figure out how to post pics, I will. It really keeps out heat and protects the interior, and gives some privacy.
