Window tint brands - which is good?

Talked to the shop here in AA and they offer 3 different brands of window tint: Llumar, Huber Optik, and Accutech.

You guys have any preference for one brand over the other? I don't really know much about any of them. Tint shop quotes same price for first two brands and a little less for Accutech. Price difference is small enough that I'll go with whatever gets the best recommendations.

Thanks!

I used Diamond Tint, and went with the full metallic Marquis line (35% front, 20% backs).

Living in the Southwest, good tint is essential. This stuff is pretty amazing! It has to be reducing my interior temperature by around 20-30 degrees. With exterior temperatures already approaching 100 degrees, I find my car interior to be only moderately warm at the end of the day. I don't even need to use the window opening feature of the remote before getting to my car.

Another advantage of the Diamond Tint line is that they offer a lifetime warranty against tint damage for any reason (their "No Fault" option). They will replace scratched tint or damage from window breakage, etc.

Highly recommended!

Hmm... I'll ask my dealer if Diamond Tint's an option. He did say he would be willing to order other brands.

Slightly off topic: I see you have parchment interior. During the day, is your interior still visible with 35%? I ask because the cops around here a bit anal about tint. They don't seem to care much if you have tint but they don't like it when the interior isn't visible.

My buddy has 20% all around but with his black interior, it's pretty much opaque and he gets pulled over all the time (but no tickets so far.)

I have ebony interior so I'm wondering if you think ebony+35% all around would still be visible to the outside during the day.

Tint

I've used Huper Optik on my last 2 cars. Great looking tint with great heat rejection. 35% all around.

I also have the Diamond Tint and paid the extra $30 for the life time warranty. I have 20% all of the way around my car. At first I thought it was too dark, but now I am glad it got 20%. It is getting hot here in Florida!!

Total cost with warranty was $159.00. Best tint job I have seen!!

I just got the Llumar "platinum plus" installed, 35% back & rear windows, 50% front windows (any tint is illegal in CA on the fronts, so hopefully only 50% won't get me too noticed!). It has an lifetime warranty on fading, etc. It's a metal film & looks nice on a SSM car..

Cost was $380. It's Llumar's "best" film.

Jcolbert,

Where is Brandon, FL and do you know what the laws are for tint in FL. I actually live 26 miles north of the FL border in AL (Dothan). A few Tint places here but I'm not sure I trust them. If you're close, I might swing down that way. Thanks

DC

found it on Mapquest. You're by Tampa. My Brother is moving there in a month. My wife's aunt lives there also. Did you buy your TL there? Good price?

I have Llumar Titanium 35%, After 6 months no scratches and the navi works perfectly. It cuts down on the glare on the navi also. It's not horribly dark, just perfect. Lifetime warranry also on fading or scratches/bubbles.

I second the Huper Optik tint, no metals, ceramic based tint. Rejects heat like no other.

Huper Optik has to be one of the best non-metallic tints out there. Metallic tints are supposed to affect your navigation and hfl system. The Huper Optik is ceramic based, no dyes, no turning purple. It has great heat rejection.

It is also one of the most expensive. In NYC I've been quoted $499 for Huper Optik. I've also seen similar prices in other parts of the country for this film.

The Llumar platinum plus is a metallic tint, so i would advise against that, even though I have yet to personally experience major interference. I know friends that have it, and it messes with their gps signal.

I got Lumar's Llumistar 35% on rear shield and rear sides. Did not put anything on the front since am in CA. Asked the installer about Huber Optik he said that is more for the commerical use but can install on Auto. Said Llumistar is been around for long and recommended that to me. After install I do not have any problems with the Nav or Radio.

BTW, The installation of the metallic Marquis Diamond Tint did not affect my radio or GPS reception at all.

It's just as bad as it was originally!
