Window Tint Brands
im planning on tinting my windows asap. I have 2 shops both charging me the same price. Local tint shop is charging my tl-s for $170 using 3m tint film non-ceramic
the other shop about 40 minutes away is charging me the same price but said 3m tint film is garbage and they will be using "Global window tint" http://www.globalwindowfilms.com/ which is supposed to be way better than 3m.
so...im wondering what tint film did most people use and their knowledge on these 2 companies. i have a NBP with black/grey interior. thinking about doing 20% or 30% all around.
also i will be asking them about moleskin too

Get the mole skin. I used Johnson's on my old TSX and they were great. I think a lot of members go with Llumar. I've heard of 3m but never heard of Global? Sounds more like a shipping or supply company. I'm sure other's will chime in here.

I've used Llumar, Solargaurd, and Suntek on my cars... TL has Suntek on it, and it's still looking good and scratch free after 5 years so far. The SolarGuards on my other car is 12 years old, and also stil looking good, scratch free, no fading, etc...

This is my opinion on window film. I have been doing window tint since 1984. Almost all films come out of Martin Processing. 3M does not make film, they only make the adhesive. As long as they offer a factory lifetime auto warranty you are good to go. I personally only use Llumar.

I am getting tint on my TLS soon, the guy I talked to is charging me $180 for all 5 windows for suntek carbon. I am just hoping it doesn't interfere with my GPS/XM
Though I am not sure about this brand, he is charging me $130 for Johnson metallic

i had johnson's on my old car, great product. well it looked pretty much factory tint wise from the inside and out.. a big plus for when checking blind spots and all, i got 20% done on my back windows. also they have a lifetime warrantee for any bubbles, cracks, or changes in color which is what sold me. if you have a shop that carries johnson's window film, id say you wont be disappointed. only thing is its a little pricey

Some good tint deals here. I have the 3M non-metallic on my TL. I like it, 20% rear window 35% on the sides.

go with the 3m, its a carbon true black color. not metallic. lifetime warranty,no fading. 170 is a steal. i have 32 percent on mine. perfect, in my avatar it was 35 percent other company. metallic too. it faded. replaced it with 3m,way better

^ yep, that's what I put on my Fit. 20% all around looks great on it. Oh yeah, both have 3M and lifetime warranty.

I have been tinting for 6 years and have used almost all brands of tint. Personally I like Suntek window films, but $170 for a car is kind of high. If you can afford the ceramic go with that, but the only down side is that it is a reflective film. Some people that I have done work for dont really like the reflective film, nine times out of ten people go with the charcoal film. I have used the global tint and in my opinion its crap, if thats the only two films you have for an option go with the 3m. But its up to you which one you go with.

I have the Suntek carbon 05% on my audi a4 and its ok but its kinda light for me since there is no metal in the film so its a clearer film but it dose not have the same heat rejection as a dye metalized film. I have been using Suntek for 6 years and I love their film. The carbon is a awesome film but just not for me. Its guaranteed not to fade and all the cars I have tint in it have come out great and still no fading.

Huper Optik is the king of tint's really, and expect to pay 350+ for it. Llumar tint is pretty good and you can get a really good price on it depending on where you go. I had Llumar Tint put in my 760 for 180 for all 7 windows and lifetime warranty through llumar. I paid 155 for the accord's 7 windows, 35% tint on both. Call around and see what prices you can get. Whatever you do, don't get metallic tint.

I've used 3M tints on all of my cars for the past 10 years and have had no problems. Currently have a 3M ceramic on my 08 TL-S. Lifetime warranty and they look terrific.
