Will Universal Exhaust pass Lease Inspection

I had a custom exhaust with universal mufflers on my 04 TL. It is being inspected for turn in off of lease. I should be ok right? I dont know if I want to pay to put the old ones back on.

i think the lease agreement specifies that the vehicle is to be returned in the same condition that was when it was initially leased, minus wear and tear from normal driving of the vehicle. since the exhaust system is no longer OEM, they will charge whatever price is necessary to return the car back to stock. (whether or not they actually return the car to stock is another thing) having any non-OEM parts on the car will be the same as bringing the car in with a dent in the door. the dealer is going to charge you for it.

since you'll be charged for changing it in either situation, it will probably be cheaper if you paid to change them back to stock as opposed to the dealer charging you for the same thing.

Read your lease. You can go on the theory that if the exhaust fails it has to be replaced like brakes or steering parts. But where it might go south for you is if the exhaust is louder than the OEM exhaust. Then I would think your in trouble.... Maybe with some luck you'll get someone who is in a hurry and just goes over real quick. Good luck.

I say get it done at a local shop before you take it in...the dealer will charge you an arm and a leg to do the same thing because I am pretty sure they wouldnt want to sell a modified TL to the next customer...

As long as it's street legal, and in good working order, the dealer really has no legal leg to stand on.

"Same condition", legally means function/appearance wise. Not "genuine Acura" brand.

Otherwise you expect them to make you pay to:

1.) Install Acura brand windshield wipers to replace the Bosch wipers you could've installed?
2.) Install EL-42 tires to replace the Pilot Sport All/Season tires that could've been installed?
3.) To fill the gas tank with gas from the dealer's favorite station, as opposed to the gas station you filled it at last?
4.) To flush the engine, and replace oil/filter with Acura Branded oil/filters, to replace the Mobile-1 you could've installed?
5.) To install Acura branded brake pads to replace the Akebono Ceramic OEM replacement pads you could've installed?
6.) To replace the windshield, because you could've had a crack, and had the windshield replaced with non Acura branded glass?
7.) Have the windshield washers flushed, because you could've installed Rain-X brand washer fluid, instead of Acura branded washer fluid?
8.) Have the HIDs replaced, becuase you could've installed Osram 4300k OEM replacement HIDs, as opposed to the ones they carry in the parts department. (most likely Philips)

Thats a nice car, good luck! I'm anxious to hear sound clips of that exhaust.

I listened on youtube to a magnaflow setup and I loved it!
