Will there be a wagon TL?

My wife's Camry wagon is getting old and we plan to replace it in the near future. We are from Canada and really like the new TL. Unfortunately,we absolutely want another wagon. Do you know if there is any chance that the TL might be offered as a wagon in the future?

Several cars have come out with wagon versions over the last few years and I sure hope Acura would do the same.

I know that a wagon version of the TSX is sold in Europe. Any chance that it might come over here?

I saw a couple of those in Helsinki this week (European Accord wagon). They didn't look too bad, but it's not anything I would buy.

Because Honda makes fun to drive wagons. I dare say the '94 Accord wagon I learned to drive in has a better suspension than the coupe or sedan of its time. Higher final drive ratio, more weight in the rear combined with VTEC and a 5 speed manual = FUN

Oh did I mention its PRACTICAL too?

A TL wagon I do not think would be well-received by the public even if it were a good car, Honda should just stick to a TSX wagon.

We want a wagon because we need space but have no interest for SUVs. None of them interest me. Even tough I love cars, I did not even bother to test drive my friend' BMW X5 when he offered to let me have it for a day.

I will probably resign myself to have V70 VOLVO. They are good cars but not very exciting.

The R is, especially with the 6-speed.

Man. For some reason, the 5 series wagon in white looks amazing. If you need a wagon you can't go wrong with that. Thats only if you *need* a wagon though. If you're looking only for wagons, take a look at the a4/s4 avant also. Those are nice.

They kind of defeat the purpose though. Their back seats are small and the cargo area is tight and not laid out very well. You can probably get a great deal on the allroad which is based on the A6 and being discountinued after '04. The '04 allroad is available with the same 4.2 V8 used in the S4. A CPO '03 S6 would also be a cool wagon.

If you want a wagon, try the Volvo V70 R. 300hp, awd, Brembros all around, 6 spd. Yeah, it will cost you, but it can flat out fly. You can even mod it 335hp (ECU flash).

I'd go for the new Subaru Legacy or Mazda6 wagons before the Volvo. Not just based on cost, but also driving dynamics...

My wife really does not care about driving dynamics. For her, a car is an appliance. If it is good looking and reliable, she will be happy.

Which of the following do you think would be most reliable: Volvo V70, Audi A4 Avant 1.8T or Mazda6 wagon?

She does not like the looks of the Legacy so this one is out.

I'm guessing the Mazda would be the most reliable. The Audi and Volvo about the same. Both the Mazda and Audi hold about 2/3's of what the Volvo would hold. The Volvo's also the safest of the three which might be important if you're going to be hauling kids.

These pictures are from someone on swedespeed.com whose wife got rear-ended by a minivan at 35MPH. As you can see, the car held up well, no one was hurt, and the rear doors still opened. The car's totalled.

Speaking of Accord Wagons, have you all seen the "Honda Cog Commercial" where they have all the car parts build like this set of dominoes and everything was shot ina single camera pass?

I'll try and get it uploaded and hosted tomorrow when I get to work.

With gas prices where they are, people's sentiments toward the environment, and new tougher CARB laws coming, SUV's are becoming less cool. Have you seen the sales figures for Hummer and other large SUV's lately? Wagons hold as much as an SUV, are safer, and handle better. Sport wagons are going to become more popular over the next few years. The Volvo R, Hemi Magnum, and Mazda6 Sportline are current examples. Both BMW and Audi will have new big wagons out in the next 18 months. I traded an MDX for my wagon and couldn't be happier. A TL wagon isn't that far fetched.

Fully agree with you BarryH, I can do anything I need with a wagon. No need for a SUV. I cannot understand why people are crazy about them.

Talking about cool wagon, the Audi A4 Avant, with something like 340 HP, must be pretty nice.

No. The Accord wagon is gone. So no TL wagon.
In Europe, they do have a Accord Wagon, our TSX, which is pretty nice.

I want a TL "Avant" also!

My wife needs a wagon type of vehicle to replace our '92 Legend with. We have a 3 year old and a golden retriever, and it would really make things more comfortable for everyone, if the dog went in the back! I've driven the new Subaru, both turbo and H6, Volvo V50, and Mazda 6. I don't enjoy any of these nearly as much as driving the TL, but we do not want another sedan, especially another one without a folding rear seat.

I am leaning toward the naturally aspirated engines, as I really do not like the slow off-the-line throttle response that both the Volvo and Subaru turbos had. Also, the interior and amenities are far superior on the TL, for essentially the same money. Right now, we're really not in a hurry to get anything, as nothing has really excited us. I personally like the Mazda 6 best, while my wife likes the Volvo V50. I think well sit tight for a while...

my brother just bought a 2003 protege 5 for 12,000 out the door with only 6,000 miles on it. 5-speed to.

it's a pretty neat car and all the seats fold in.
