Your TL will be fine. In fact, Honda's are so well engineered that you can redline it with no oil in the crankcase and your TL will ask you for more. Good luck !

Never thought of that, the sound of the engine clattering with no oil may mask all the squeaks and rattle in the interior! Great idea!

I do semi regularly.. Atlanta traffic pisses me off so bad that when I get a hole in traffic, into SS it goes, 5th to 3rd or 2nd and away she goes, till I bang the limiter sometimes.

yeah just go ahead and beat on it that's how they are meant to be driven all the time right? but if the car does start to develop problems don't start asking questions now. its your car drive it the way you want to. it just surprises me because everyone thinks that just because its a honda that it can be driven to redline all the time. its a machine not a miracle, given enough wear and abuse it will break over time. i agree its a well built machine but why create a delusion for yourself. where does it state that the engine's can take this kind of abuse? race car engines are rebuilt or replaced after each race. those engines are more finely tuned than ours. they do take way more abuse than the TL, but it is still added wear because of the performance being pushed out of it. you don't have to drive the car like a grandma all the time but if you drive it hard all the time i am sure things will start to deteriorate.

you'll definitely need to fill up more often, and get some new tires a lot sooner, but if you have the stock tires, perhaps that's not a bad thing.

I've been known to hit the rev limiter a time or 2. There is always a risk involved in pushing the limits but the robs so much power from this engine that the odds of breaking something from hard driving are not that big.

You will be good to go. Vtec loves the 4 - 6rpm range.

Not that I recommend. I've had my rev limiter kick in on more than one occassion. Engine is so darn quite with the radio up you can't even hear the engine.

narmeen, I bet you never saw Donte99TL's thread, who ever posted he will try to floor his car in most of opportunities... so you won't be the first one doing so, maybe you'll not abuse your engine as hard as he does...

Man I love the sound of the engine. I thought it would be a loud, muscle-like engine, which would definitely be cool, but when you rev it in neutral (or while driving) it has a really nice, smooth sound to it.

the reason there is redline is so you know the limit of the engine. so as long as you stay under the redline i think it should be fine souldn' it?

I don't think the occasional (or even daily) rediline is going to hurt the engine. True it will wear more than driving like a "normal" person. Instead of getting 250,000 miles out of the engine it may die at 175,000. But I look at my boat that runs at redline for 30 minutes (or longer) at a time. That engine takes it and asks for more.

You just have to make sure you maintain the engine. I plan to switch to synthetic as soon as I hit about 10k.

I think speeding tickets and idiots pulling out in front of you may be a greater risk. :toothless

as long as your car is warmed up, driving the car aggresively is fine.
