Will the DVD-A player play DVD sound?

Will the DVD-A player play DVD sound?
I know it is well documented that the DVD-A player won't play DVD videos, but will it play the audio of a standard DVD? Or how about a DVD that has been encoded with DTS 5.1 sound, like the Eagles Hell Freezes Over concert?
I'm wondering if it will pick up that DTS track since it plays DTS, or if it will play standard audio from a DVD player. I would be nice, because I would then already own a ton of DVD concerts which I could enjoy while driving around.
It seems like it should at least play the DTS track. Has anyone tried this? Thanks in advance.

No, it will not because I tried it just for curiosity.
It will blink at the top display screen with 'FORMAT', I think it means the format of the disc is not compatible and then ejected the disc back out.
