Unhappy Wildfires in CA and air cabin filter

Caveat - Mods, I wasn't sure if this fit into the 'Problems and Fixes' category, so if I'm in error posting here, my apologies.

Hey everyone, I need a little advice....
You've probably heard about the wildfires that were burning out in LA and Ventura counties here in CA this past week. While I don't live in the areas affected by these fires, my office was very, very close to where they were.... There has been ash and smoke in the air, in and around the office for days now.

My question for you is should I replace my air cabin filter in my 5 month old TL (5200 miles)? I was thinking that because of all the crap that's been in the air, the filter might have been prematurely 'loaded' with undesirable particulates.... Well, that and I noticed that when I turned on the air in my car this morning, there was a weird smell due to the smoke in the air It eventually goes away after about a min. or so, but it's not pleasant at all .

I was a new post about swapping out the cabin filter - Looks fairly straightforward, so I thought I'd ask for your opinions or suggestions before ordering a replacement filter and diving into the DIY.

Thanks!

Nothing wrong with changing out the filter early. I say go for it.

I say order or buy a new filter and then pull-out the old one...If you think it needs to be replaced then put the new one in or you can wait for a while before changing.

I put the DIY yesterday that you saw and it took me only 25 minutes for the whole procedure.

The fires got less than a mile from my house. I have driven my TL almost everyday. No problems or smells inside my cabin, but change it if you must.
