Why Doesn't Trunk Lid Open Higher?

One feature I'd really dislike in the TL is how little the trunk pops open when you use the remote.

It's very inconvenient when you have your arms loaded down with stuff and you have to lean down to lift the lid after it's been opened. Is there any practical reason Honda designed the trunk lid to be so impractical?

I had a problem with my trunk-lid. I talked to the dealer, and they are having to replace some of the springs for the trunk due to this issue. How far is it opening up? Is it just cracking open?

IMO, I like the little trunk pop we have because what if you parked in an area where the roof is really low and you pop open the trunk.

Just the other day I parked underground where there was a fan and it was really low. I had to open my trunk to get something and luckily it did not hit the fan. If it popped up all the way, it would definately hit the fan in the parking lot. So its all good!!! But one thing I wish Acura did was to have a button to press right by the lock so the trunk will close itself off just like the New Mercedez benz E class!!!

If it goes any higer and it rains, you will get bucketful of water in your trunk.

Agreed. A couple of weeks ago, it had been raining heavily and when I opened the trunk all the water from the trunk lid rush to the rear windshield then down into my trunk. I think it's a design issue.

When it's raining hard I do get water in my trunk anyway. Pop it open, lift it slowly, watch water pour in.

I actually thought this was a defect and took the car to the dealer. I was told it was designed to open just a little.

My friend's MB E320 has trunk lid that opens all the way.

I am kind of used to it now. And it was actually not bad during the 15 consecutive rainny days we have here in the Bay Area right after the X'mas. Trunk has been staying dry.

If you open the trunk slowly in the rain, the excess should hit the back windshield and get channeled to the sides. I have no problem keeping my trunk dry in the rain.
