Why does Acura think I'm a moron?
Why does Acura think I'm a moron?
Sorry, but I've been doing some math recently, and I've just realized how fed up I am with Acura.
I have an 04 TL with 120,000+ miles.
My average trip distance is 10 miles, with about 75 miles per day.
So, I've had to press the OK button on the Navi over 10,000 times!
WHY?
Did they not thing I read it the first few times.
Did they not thing I noticed they spelling typo in the first few months.
Exactly how many times do I need to agree to the stupid thing before they think I understand it.
Why, oh why must I agree to their silly little disclaimer every time I start my car.
Part two...
Recently my car is due for an oil change.
Well, it's not realy due yet, I got the 15% warning, which means I have about another 1000 miles to drive before I get to 0%.
Which means every time I start the car for the next 100 times I get this silly warning - which will take two weeks.
Now, if the dealership called me 5 times a day to let me know that my oil change was due in two weeks, I'd tell them where the hell to go after a day or two.
Why does acura think that they need to tell me 100 times - each and every time I start my car.
Sorry, I just got really fed up with pressing stupid buttons that tell me stuff I already know.

And I believe the nav hack only works on the older 04-06 TL's. From my understanding there are no hacks for the 07 and 08's is this correct?

Go get yourself one that doesnt have navi and put masking tape on the part that shows the oil life and call it a day. It makes me enjoy life so much more that it takes something this small to piss you off. Just go trade in your car and problem is solved or deal with it.

Regardless, they made the new Mygig navigation so that you dont have to press any buttons. It was nice.
The good news is that the TL also offers auto headlights!!! When I'm driving at night I'm always like wow I can't see well, but no more thanks to this car. Sadly it doesn't have auto whipers, so just to be safe I always leave mine on. You never know when I'll be caught in the rain and be too oblivious to notice.
Yes I am sarcastic,

It is annoying... I sometimes don't even push it at all and let the screen go dark automatically. Gives the cabin a darker look when driving at night. if you had a kid, they could make a 'game' out of it and push the button for you every time...
What do you mean? One thing I loved about the newer Grand Cherokees was how insanely quiet the cabin is during cruising. Easily more quiet inside than the TL and thats even the SRT8 with that huge center mounted exhaust.

I've been in a friends car and it sounds as if we were sitting on the engine driving. Its loud inside. Also, heard that from a few other people as well. I think it may just be over time the engine gets louder.
If you don't plan on using navi for your drive to wherever then don't press the button?
The only problem I have with it is the OK button takes a while to appear. I test drove an IS350 and the OK button appears very quickly.
But all is good... Acura has a fantastic navigation system.

Acura/Honda has a responsibility to try and win when they are sued. Some smartass will or has tried to get rich after doing something stupid and tried to get Acura to pay for it. The best way for them to win is to tell us every time we use the navigation system that we do so at our own risk. Life sucks but that's the way it is. You can no longer say 'they didn't tell me don't be stupid'.

1) Did you not think we wouldn't notice YOUR typos? lol (had to say it).
2) Personally, consider this. If my maintenance minder reminded me just ONCE that service is due soon, and after that the warning light never came on, and I were to god forbid totally forget about it to begin with, I would rather be reminded over and over til I got it done then to forget about it and have it do any harm to the engine in my $40,000 car.
If the OK button on the nav screen bothers you that much, then follow the instructions on the DIY for the nav hack and fix it yourself. I see you have over 300 posts so I don't think there's much excuse for you to not have done a search or made an effort. I understand it's a rant, but really...
Here, watch this video then reconsider
