I went to a race event in Arizona while ago. I can tell you, the driver makes all the difference. Many of the folks there been to the track before, and thought of themselves as good drivers. To humble the folks there (and to prove a point), the instructor drove a 15 passenger CARGO VAN on the track, and raced against the students driving C5 Corvettes. The instructor in the CARGO VAN spanked everybody. Now does this mean a Cargo Van has better handling than a C5 vette? No. But in the hands of an expert, it sure can feel like it.

Note: I'm not saying the TL-S doesn't handle better, I'm just saying that the driver of the TL-S is probably the biggest expert on driving Honda/FWD platforms than anybody else in the world.

To switch gears a little. I remember watching a motoring video, (I can't remember which), where there was a race between several cars, I think 7. (The video was a tuning event) The RSX came in 6th place or something like that... The team flew in a "specialist" driver from Japan, to drive the RSX. They raced again the next day with the japanese driver, and the RSX came in 1st palce.
Sheesh, those corvette drivers must be either racing backwards or are completely worthless. I could see a good driver beating a corvette in a standard sedan on a really hairy track, but a full size cargo van, cmon.

Unless they all raced at the same time and they didn't want to chance wrecking their cars passing the bus.

I had an '05 TL 6spd and now have an '06 G35 sedan. Styling on the TL inside and out is much better then the G35. Driving feels better in the G35. Sportier I guess, the TL felt kind of high and floated more. My wife said driving the G35 to her is easier because it feels smaller. I would definately get another TL when I get older. I felt old driving the TL, driving the G35 I feel younger hehe. Both cars are nice but I think you get better value for your money w/ the TL.

I test drove the 2007 G35 and was planning on buying it but the interior was very cheap looking and feeling. The dash seemed to be pieced together with plastic blocks. There was no continuity in the flow of the design. When I drove it, the engine was rough and raw. When you stepped on the gas, there was a delay then wham the car took off. Plus the hood has no lines or definition, it just looked like a big pancake...

With the TLS, it was very tight and responsive - still is. The car finds it gears so quickly and just takes off - no hesitation. The interior is vey well designed and seamless.

wrong....... Completely incorrect, 100%.

All three cars were driven by the same person, Keiichi. They aren't stupid to use different driver to compare times. Common sense, anyone?

I agree completely. The design and quality of the dash bothered me. The Infiniti engines are told to be running rough, because they are from Nissan. When it comes to engine running quality Acura/Honda stomps it. You can even rev it to the max(red line) without vibrations in the cabin. Also the shifter on the manual tranny is dead on, no vibrations what-so-ever at top RPM. The Nissan/Infiniti cars are not as good in that area either.

To add more hot pepper to the mix, if they used the american drivers, the lap time could've gotten worse by another 2 seconds. That's 4 seconds difference, my friend. Or maybe even 5 sec. You need to be thankful that Keiichi drove all cars and attained the best time for each cars, without having the other drivers to drive it.

I will just say this. There is a reason the 4 year old TL is selling more cars per month then brand new G35.

I have never driven either but I think the TL looks a million times better on the inside and the outside.

I was in the market for a G35 and ended up getting a TL. Tl feels more luxurious. Cheaper mods are easily avail.

Who are you calling stupid? The whole thing was for a best motoring video, and they use different drivers all the time when doing comparos. At least the ones I've seen.

Not to change the topics, but does anyone have this problem with their TL? Our TL does this every so often, and it drives me crazy. Dealer has been unable to reproduce it But when it happens, the engine makes a sound like it knocks a few times, and the car hesitates a brief instant, then it takes off. I've had a few near-misses because of that.

(And no, I don't fill up with 87, our TL knows nothing except Chevron Supreme). Our TL has been doing this since new. Happens maybe once every other day, perhaps a little more, I don't know, as my wife drives it more than I do.

its because the TL's use Throttle by wire...for a more accurate and efficient vehicle, when you floor it...the throttle body wont open all the way....it gradually opens up....i take it you have an auto....more noticeable on the auto than manual, but you can even notice it on the manual....try driving the new Civic SI's....they're the worst at it.... GO TL's!

:shakehead

on topic: i love the g but i wanted a 4dr (already have a 2dr acura cl) and the 4 door g35 looks hideous compared to the sexy styling of the 2. i also loike the tl-s interior way better. the main reason is i stand by honda/acura quality(cl has 165k and is still kicking).the tl-s is my 4 acura and had 1 honda and once again i couldn't be happier.(except maybe when i throw on some rims/drop)

Don't buy TL..... or any Acura name brand. It's these losers in the Acura forum is what's ruining the image of Acura. High class people should jump over to a *better* name brand such as Lexus or Infinti. So many gay asses hang around in Acurazine.. it's so fucked up.

Don't you have shopping cart wing to add to your 89 Civic tonight between your jobs at Burger King and detailing cars for the dealer at Acura.

Ok, but my other cars are throttle-by-wire as well, and they don't do that. That's why I thought it was wierd. I'm not even talking about full-throttle either. Just moderate acceleration.

My last car had the delay to and someone said because it was drive by wire. It was dangerous. I would hit the gas on the freeway to switch lanes and the car would not accelerate until about 5 seconds later. By that time the car that I ended up cutting off was giving me the high beams... The dealership could never figure it out.

AVS007 - I feel for you - very frustrating. I test drove 3 TL-S the day that I was buying to make sure that I got the most responsive car. With my last car, I ende up going to a lemon law attorney and the manufacturer bought me out. The car had a few other issues all tied to the transmission and software that controlled the transmission.

This is crazy. But the body paint on the TL held up longer than the G35.
