Why Is Desert Mist Metallic The Least Popular?

The TL looks great no matter what color you get, but clearly Desert Mist Metallic is the least popular. It's not ugly and there are definitely some plus points.

1) It's easy to clean.
2) It's got a metallic look.
3) It ages well.
4) It lets you get the parchment interior, which I personally love.

I thought about getting it cause I wanted the parchment interior and I knew it would be easy to clean. But NBP just looked too good to pass up. Your thoughts?

I don't dislike that color, but it's kinda like the color of most modern caskets, or at least that is what the color reminds me of.

It's the color most senior citizens would choose. But there are other cars that would appeal more to senior citizens. (Lexus, Lincoln, Caddy.)

That color isn't as popular as others. I've only seen a few in the past 16 months.

Gold is currently not a trend color, maybe the late 70's or early 80's, but not now.

Colors trend in and out, and right now silver is at the downturn (it hit its peak in 2003 or so). Other vibrant colors are trending up (so the paint makers say).

This car is a dirt magnet. I've never had a car that attracts so much road grime, tar, salt, etc. The lower sills are particularly affected. Must be due to the aerodynamics.

I have WDP/parchment, and sincerely wish I had chosen DMM/parchment, I see one around this area and it hides the dirt so well, and I like that color, including the contrast with the red tail lights & silver of the wheels (had it on my '90 Audi 90 Quattro). I would never have a plain black interior, unrelieved by any wood grain, etc. so that limits the TL colors I would consider.

Oh, well, guess I'm officially old. I had a 'Sunlit Sand' Maxima and was amazed at how well the car aged. Didn't show scratches, swirls, or dirt. Of course, it also didn't quite sparkle like some darker colors, but the color ages so well I figured four years from now a TL in a similar color would still look nice. I've had cars in black, charcoal, several shades of red, british racing green, white, and silver. Only the silver and DMM-type colors looked nice even when dirty, and DMM doesn't show every little scratch. Besides, I think DMM looks great with parchment and it's nice not to see that color everywhere you look.

It's not a popular color right now and the swatch looked kind of dull. But I've seen a few on the road and it does look good on the TL IMHO. But, what do I know, most of you consider me "Old People" @ 54.

Well, it's pretty obvious that the children on this board are not attracted to DMM, but I guess that's okay. Tastes change.

I've seen a couple in DMM; the TL looks good in that color. It wasn't on my list in great part because it's almost identical in color to my wife's Odyssey.

Around here, I've seen fewer DGP than DMM.

Thumbs up Damn, take it easy on DMM, it's all good...

All colors have pros and cons and I know that there are not many people on the forum that have (or like ) DMM but it's a great color, easy to maintain and keeps looking good for years.
I have to admit that a shiny NBP TL is a fricking beautiful car but keeping that shine takes lots of care. Like other people on the forum I have had all colors of cars but my tundra was similar in color to DMM and the finish held up better than anything I've owned.
When looking at TL's on the lot or driving in town, DMM is a beautiful color.

I actually find the color very classy...

Would have been my second choice if it weren't depicted as such a "grandpa" color.

I love it. It was my second choice after pearl white. It definately does not look "grandpa" - classic german look if you ask me.

I like the DMM color.

I currently have a SSM and was dreaming about getting an 07 or 08 DMM TL.

Then i would have a gold and silver car!

Have you ever seen the color "German Silver"? It is exactly like DMM.

I bought the DMM TL last year, mainly because it was the only one the dealer had with the Navi. I didn't really care what color is was because I think the TL looks great in any color.

It was my wife's car and she is a grandma so I guess that's OK.

I love DMM. I think our car looks great in every color in which it's available.

In the 70s I had a Civic in the same color - it was called Champagne. The car never looked dirty.

But I agree that colors run in cycles, and right now I hardly see gold colored cars on the road.

My wife and I were looking for color preference and saw the DMM, and then realized it looked kinda familiar ... that's when we glanced over at my wife's mini-van .... AAHHHHHH!!!!!! same color ... aint no way we're getting a sport-luxury that reminds us of a minivan ...

Have a 2005 6MT/NAV/A-spec with Decklid spoiler and Acura 18" black chrome wheels with BSM and Moonroof Visor in DMM. It was the only color choice with interior choice I liked in the hot SE where I live. If I still lived in Cleveland, Ohio I would have purchased a Black exterior/Camel interior but I'm down in Alabama.

I'm 39 and wouldn't have any other color combo. When I tint it, it'll look awsome!

A bad name? First off the TL is not a sports sedan, so you "young bucks" bought the wrong car. Get yourself a G35 of IS 300 or 3. Then you young kids complain of lack of mods for the car. ITS THE WRONG CAR FOR YOU!!!

The TL seems to be real popular and looking at the sales figures posted here, a LOT of older people are buying it. I've seen them in ALL colors.

If you think old folks are giving it a bad image, I think the tools adding carbon fiber, gunmetal wheels, paiting their brakes red, adding stickers etc etc to this car are giving it a "bad image".

I had one car with a color similar to DMM. It was DEFINITELY not my favorite color aesthetically BUT, it was GREAT for camouflaging dirt. If it meant a good discount, DMM TL is more than worth it and it's not some tacky, hard-to-live-with color like Nissan's Sunlit Copper.

Obviously, DMM isn't the favorite color for now, but it ever was. I, as the same as others, had the similar color vehicle in the past, too. I love that. When I ordered my TL, DMM was my first choice; however, once I thought my families had two cars with that color already, I changed to AM (I had to wait 2 months to get it, thus I changed to DGP).

It could work out great as a "sleeper"... Police won't really find trouble with you that much... My friend as those Camry that looks like DMM and drive about 80-85MPH passing a CHP and they dun even give a look.... I used to drive Carbon Blue Celica and they gimme a ticket driving 75...

I like the DMM and would have taken one in that color if it was available. I hate washing cars and that color hides dirt better than anything else.

The good news is, if you like DMM, you can get it cheap, cheap, cheap. Find 2 dealers in your area who both have one on their lot and pit them against each other. The dealers have to take on some of the DMM cars under their agreement with Acura and find them harder to sell than any other color. They'll be falling all over each other to get you to buy the DMM so that they can get other cars in stock from Acura.
