Again, what you think is filthy in a cotton filter doesn't restrict airflow.

That's the point of the cotton filter. Higher efficiency for longer...MUCH longer than paper. You say you never go 15K miles between paper filter replacements. But that's the point. A cotton filter can go 15K miles with high efficiency. Then all you do it clean it, let it dry and put it back in for another 20K mi. You don't need to drop $15-$40 (depending on the filter) every oil change on paper filters.

I tell you this.....I made a custom RAM AIR intake on my TL.

Results:

Lost power......just that simple. I didn't tested a speeds over 100 mph, but I did go around 80mph.

The difference was huge, this is in comparison with stock air box without resonator and K&N filter.

My guess was: very high turbulence.
