Who would win? 07 TL-S vs. 06 RX-8
This one kid saw that I drive a 2007 TL-S and he said "I hate your car"...I didn't say anything because I know that the TL-S is the bomb. But I ask him what car he drives...He explained he got a "RX-8" and he said he could beat me but I told I don't race.. I don't want to sound dumb or anything but just out of curiosity who would win?

You'd beat him. I raced one from a roll from 140 to 210 and we were dead even...and i'm in an '04. Off the line it would be a driver's race if you're AT but if you're MT you'll smoke him. Just remember to take the VSA off. Good luck.

as long as there are no twisties involved you will win, the rx-8 is one of the best handling cars on the road

A stock 2007 TL Type S, AT or MT, will beat any stock 2006 RX8 as long as you are talking about straightline acceleration. Even an AT TL-S can do 0-60 in 5.7sec, which is 0.2 sec faster than a MT RX8. If you race him from a roll, your chance of winning is even higher.
Have you ever watched any Best Motoring videos? The RX8 MT is always slower than the S2000 and the Integra Type R on the straightaway. And I think we all know that the TL type S is faster than a ITR.

In a drag race, I would bet on the TL. In an autox setting, I would lean back towards the RX8 (depending on how good the 8 driver is).

TL-S hands down. the numbers just dont add up for the RX8 to win against the TL-S in anything that involves acceleration.
heck, ive walked away from RX8s on the freeway trying to pass me.

even the second gen can take the RX8.. If you dont believe me someone should try it.. take a Tl and run the rx8.. Ull be surprise how slow the rx8 are.. I mean they're not slow if mod right but still slow to me.

TL-S will eat RX-8 for breakfast if stock to stock! the accelation and handling TL-S is more better than RX-8, cuz I have owned a RX-8 b4 so I think TL-S is much better...if you meet that kid in the furture you can tell him shut up

Depends on the driver, if he can drive stick well, then he might probably keep up with you. But I think most likely your base TL will beat it. He'd have to do some hard launches to keep up with you from a dig.

I was able to outrun all kinds of american V8s and most other cars with my RX-3. The car was seriously modified and it lasted for 250,000 miles!
It would be sad that the RX-8 motor isn't as reliable as the older style motors...
I recently raced a RX-8 in my TL-S and easily had him on the straights, but lost to him in the twisties...

Coming from someone who works at a Mazda dealer and drives these cars all the time they are slow! They have their moments and just like every other Mazda they are badasses in the twisties. Here's the thing that set if off for me. One of the service advisors has one and thinks it the meanest thing on the streets. His mods are Greddy pullies, nology wires, Mazda speed CAI/exhaust and 2 chips- He dynoed 182 whp and 132 tq. I was blown away cuz my K24 auto with all bolt on's dynoed the same day at 145whp and 142tq. So basically my $23K Honda automatic econo coupe has more torque than a $30K 6spd sports car with a bunch of mods.
