Who Has The Least Amount Of Complaints With Their TL?

List if you have an 04 or 05. Only list complaints on parts/pieces that were factory or dealer installed on the 04 or 05. List things that pertain only to your car.

These are mine:
1. Tires(EL42)
2. Butt prints on seats
3. The Guillotine doors

Otherwise, I am pretty happy with my 04 TL.

1- No MP3
2- No mute button on the steering wheel (last car had one, it was nice. I will most likely forget about this once I get a BT phone)
3- Center console storage (under the armrest) is pretty hard for me to reach.

other that that, I'm quite happy.

1. Tires
2. Rattles - luckily everyone on this site has pin pointed the source...easy fix.

My TL has lived up to all my expectations and the short comings do not effect my driving enjoyment.

1. Butt prints (which I'll get replaced by the dealer just before the base warranty expires).
2. Trying to make the dash above glove box look nice (I use Aerospace 303 upon the
advice of several and have had minimal success).
3. EL42's -- very hard ride with some flatspotting and you don't get the warmest feeling
that you have control on water/rain or snow.
4. Making good use of the large cargo net -- seems too floppy (I'll have to check a thread to
see how otheres have attached it).

Only problems were heat shield and rattles, which, at least at the moment, have been fixed. Tires are starting to wear a bit (EL42's)...rotating this weekend. Overall, love the car.

srhewes - I attempted to put in the cargo net...never figured it out, got fed up, and stuffed it back into the spare tire compartment...don't feel much loss over this, either...

No Complaints at all, thankfully. (Knock on wood)

And remember to take this survey with a grain of salt. There are two things to keep in mind here:

#1 - The 3GL TL was third highest rated car for owner satisfaction in the latest Consumer Reports, behind only the Lexus LS400 and the Toyota Prius. We got beat only by one high end luxury car, and one gimmicky hybrid energy box. That's something to be very proud of and definitely played a part in my decision to get a TL. So, while some of you may be thinking the "grass is greener" - there are obviously a lot more people with other cars, including all of the "Luxury" cars thinking "maybe I should have gotten a TL".

#2 - How many of you initially found Acurazine because you had a problem with your car you were looking for a solution for? Possibly a rattle, or butt prints. Whatever your problem, it doesn't matter. If you hadn't had the problem, would you ever have found this place? What I mean is that I am willing to bet a lot of money there is a higher percentage of people on these forums that have problems than there really are as percentage of TL owners as a whole. People with problems look for a place to vent or search for solutions. People without them aren't as likely. So while we definitely appreciate all the people here describing their problems and possible solutions, we do need to realize that they are a very small minority of dissatisfied TL owners as a whole. (And hopefully they can either find a solution here, or get their service departments to correct these issues so they can be as satisfied as the rest of us...)

Rant over I guess. Interesting discussion though, thanks for posting.

It all makes it worth it:

*no complaints here*

Hard to find things to complain about

It's such a great car and there are so many good features that it's hard to find much to complain about. After 2 months and 1700 miles:

Fixes needed
1 - minor moonroof rattle
2 - minor passenger door panel rattle
3 - re-affix some small portions of the A-Spec front underbody to the bumper

Nice to have
1 - MP3 playback
2 - better paint match between hood, bumper and A-spec front underbody

I still smirk when I see BMWs and Mercedes since I know how much of a better deal I got than they did!!!

Hate the EL42 tires although the replacement tires are a bit better than the originals.

Lack of MP3 player

Butt prints

The above notwithstanding, I love my car.

Not a single complaint and it's over a year old now. I almost feel guilty having a perfect car. I wish everyone with a TL was enjoying theirs as much as I love mine.

Absolutely love this car. My only complaints:

thin paint (too many rock chips, too easy to make swirl marks)
minor tire vibration

'05 - about 6K miles.

I love the car, and not much to complain about...
1- rattle on left side of dash which doesn't bother me much.
2- i think i've started hearing a rattle from my driver door.

Other than that, good times!

05 - 3k miles

1) Electrical glitch losing XM, BT icon, etc.
2) Rattle Driver's Door
3) Rattle Center Console
4) Rattle Center shift column plastic
5) Rattle Rear Right Console
6) Rattle Passenger front door
7) Rattle sunroof
8) Rattle rear passenger door
9) Glove box often won't stay shut

Wishes:
MP3 direct connection
Sunglasses holder replacement for driver's side "Oh S#!t" handle

Given the reported problems with the current TL I don't think it will stay on the Consumer Report recommended list for long. Glad I didnt' buy mine and can simply turn the rattletrap back in at the end of 3 years.

Almost Perfect

I have had my Anthracite/Quartz, 2005 Automatic w/NAV since January 28, 2005 with almost 4200 miles. It has been on two long distance trips including a 1600 miles trip from Arizona to California. AZ city mileage (consistently), 22 mpg (lowest city mileage was Fresno,CA @ 19mpg); freeway (CA trip) 30mpg. Trip to Grand Canyon was 29mpg going up and 34mpg comming back to Scottsdale. After car is broken in, hope that the Red Line 5-30wt synthetic will assist in moving my consistent city mileage at least 1 mpg more; as well as the freeway mileage to 32mpg. No rattles or vibrations. Michelin's doing fine job.

The only defect was a loose cargo net anchor located on passenger side, under rear window sill. I fixed it myself. Acura should use threaded sleeves instead of sheet metal screws.

Desired Improvements: Center glove box should allow a full useage of DVD-A's storeage and still be able to plug in cell phone charger cord. Turning radius to too wide for a car this size; cornering at high speed could be improved by lightening up the suspension and improving weight distribution. Would like Direct Fuel Injection to improve mileage by 15%.

Truly THE BEST CAR THAT I HAVE EVER OWNED!! Also the most amount of technology and luxury for today's inflated cost. Keep Up The Outstanding Work, Honda/Acura!

19K miles - 399 Days old

1.) Paint
2.) Dashboard different color than rest of dash and door panels (despite day one 303 and always using a sunshade and garage kept)

Other than that occassional rattle or squeak - but nothing major - except the one coming from driver side window - goes away when window is very slightly lowered - been too lazy to try some silicon spray in there or something.

I Love this car no matter though. Its all good.

Strange, I live in Fresno and also get about 19mpg or less on a regular basis. I wonder if it's the traffic, the gas or just us?

After six months and 7k trouble free miles, my car is in the shop today.
My temp gauge flatlined last week and my HFL phone icon disappeared but HFL still works. Service writer suspected Navi control unit and says he has seen the problem 2-3 times in past month. I don't expect a long term fix at this point.

They offered, and I accepted an 05 non-navi TL for a loaner. It even has a few less miles than mine.

butt prints - is this really covered by warranty?
Knicks in the silver trim by console
tires need to be replaced
lots of rattling in the compartments under stereo
otherwise happy with car

I love the car and have only two minor nits:

1) HFL's speech recognition can be spotty, even when stopped at a light with the climate control shut off. I do not understand why the Navi's speech recognition can be so good (I almost never have a problem with it) and the HFL's can be so inconsistent.

2) Hard to fit the owner's manual in the glove compartment, especially if you also want to stick a couple of DVD-A cases in there.

BTW, does anyone know if you can use a voice command to pause the CD? I know you can hit the button for the disc that is playing, but fumbling around to do that can sometimes be a nuisance (or, like I did this morning, sometimes you hit the button for the wrong disc).

Suggested improvements

1) Better clutch feel
2) More front seat side bolster support
3) DRL

Other than those I'm very happy with my 2005 6MT Non-Nav

Reasonable:
dash and B pillar rattles
a-spec body kit gaps (should be whole new front and rear bumpers rather than skirt add-ons for the price)

Probably Unreasonable:
lack of RWD or AWD
lack of 30 more HP and 50 more torque
lack of mp3 player
