Who has changed Muffler for Deeper Sound?

I love the exhaust note when the you first start up the TL and I have been looking for a way to get a deeper sound even while driving. I'm wondering if anyone has changed the muffler for a deeper sound? I'm not looking for a sound too loud that will attact attention, just a subtle note.

Thanks

Would be great if we can get the G35 coupe exhaust sound.

I always wondered about that startup sound, it's soooo awesome. But it's the only time I can seem to get to hear it, either I'm going too fast to hear it w/ the road noise or it's specially toned just for start-up. I've gunned the engine a little (4k rpm) at stop, revving it doesn't produce the sound. Throwing everyone in my dust from a stop light doesn't produce it either, mostly engine sound. Anyone got any clue on this?

Sorry but I don't like the G35coupe exhaust note. I think it sounds kinda of wimpy compare to ours. Its noticably louder than ours but our TL is definately lower in pich. The G35 sounds more higher pich!!! If ours was just as loud as the G35 then it would be perfect and better than the G or 350Z!!!

Nissan spent a lot of time and money on the exhaust sound for the G35 coupe, 350Z, and FX. When ever I hear this exhaust sound, I just know it's a G35c, 350Z, or an FX.

I guess I never heard our exhaust when the car is taking off. The only time I hear it is when I start the engine. It sounds so good when you start the engine.

I installed a full Mossy catback exhaust on my former '02 Altima SE. Then to cut down interior droning by 6db's, I installed a 4x22 inch Magnaflow 10436 resonator. The Mossy catback uses the Magnaflow 14829 mufflers which have build-in 2" tuning tubes. The resulting sound was really great. Low and deep, not ricey or 350Z-like. Really a good sound. Of course, none of these little V6's are ever going to sound like an American V8. Just ain't gonna happen because, well, they're missing two cylinders.

im swapping mufflers on my TL either monday or tuesday once i get the parts in. i decided to use magnaflows small oval design muffler.... the only problem i think i will have is that i am going to cut the stock tips off the oem mufflers and weld them to the new magnaflows to retain the nice look of the tips being flush with the bumper. the stock tips are very small diameter, and the magnaflow are 2" in/out. im keeping all the stock tubing, replacing the front resonator with a magnaflow 4" round, and cutting out the middle muffler. hopefully that should improve the tone and lower it down a little bit.

Yeah, and a sound clip would be great if you can manage it.

I think the TL sounds hella loud when going fast. I had my girlfriend drive my car while I was driving hers, and I told her to redline it next to me. It sounds crazy!! My friend's brother has Carrera S, and for some reason the sound of the TL maxing out sounds like a Porsche Maxing out (Not as loud as the porsche). You can clearly hear the nice sound of the muffler. Also one time I was waiting to cross the intersection (walking) I heard a nice muffler, I turn around and it's a white aspec TL taking a corner at like 60 then downshifting it taking it to redline, very beautiful. As for the G35, the more I think about it, the exhaust sounds like a car that has no resignators. So if you want the TL to sound like the fake G35, take both of your resignators off =)

Would there be any performance impact from simply changing the muffler? I was curious about Magnaflo as well, but heard that simply changing the muffler would effect the back pressure.

Any thoughts?

Well, I'm looking into this. The Exhaust Note we all love fades around the 1300 RPM area so I'm seeing if there is a solution to augment the sound and see exactly as to why it quiets down. Let me know how the muffler project with the manaflow goes for you.

In much the same way that a Ferrari V8 sounds wimpy compared to a Corvette.

Personally, I'd take the Ferrari.

I agree the TL sounds great at start-up, and while cruising the parking lot at idle. I'd love to hear more of this sound sometimes, but not at the risk of having more engine noise all the time.

I disagree, I have an guy in the neighborhood who has a 200x 360 modena and the exhaust is incredibly loud it was shocking caught me off guard. I might have been aftermarket, but I doubt it.
