White or Yellow Fog Lights?
I'm going to be changing out my fog lights in the next while and am torn between which colour to get. Currently I have the oem halogen bulbs, but was thinking that getting a set of PIAA Xtreme White Plus would be good because they are 4000k and the closest I can find to my 4300k xenon headlamps.
But now a friend of mine with an STI recommended I use 2500k yellow bulbs. He uses Nokya, but I notice PIAA also makes a Plasma Ion yellow bulb.
The research I've found online is such that some people think the yellow does make a difference in inclement weather, but others find that the yellow bulbs are just not as bright (which makes sense, as the light has to pass through the yellow coating on the glass) and don't make much of a difference. I have noticed there are some TL's in the forums that have yellow fogs.
What does everyone think, are the yellow bulbs worth it, or should I go with the white bulbs to match my HID's?

ive had yellow fogs for about 3 years. i converted my fogs to HIDs and i have 2500k bulbs for em. the lower the K, the bright the color so yes it does make a difference. for example, in thick fog or on a road with no street lights. i love my set up and dont plan on changing it any time soon.

I will say that yellow fogs do make a difference in fog, rain and snow. Ill also say that the stock fogs on the 07/08 TL"s flat out suck. IMO They really don't do much, the stock headlights overpower them. I put some amber vinyl over mine a while ago and even that made a slight difference. For functionality, 2500k HIDs is prob your best bet.

I have 3000k HID in my fogs running independently of the headlights. I use them instead of the regular HIDs and can see just fine...and my older eyes don't like night time as much as they used to.
I think matching fogs to headlights looks silly...but I'm old school.

Go with yellow, it'll give the car a more distinctive look. Click on the link below to see a picture of them on an ASM. Pretty clean might I add.

I had yellow tint film with 3000k hid on my inspire fogs for a while. They were really bright yellowish/green and drew too much unwanted popo attention so I took off the tint and went to 4300k bulbs and I like the matching look better on the TL, looks more normal to me. I had 3000k hid in my headlight fogs before the inspires too. They put out really good light but that look was just a blob of light when looking at the car from a distance and just looked like i had different colored high beam on all the time which drew too much unwanted attention too from popos.

ddmtuning and like 45 bucks. Couldnt see spending over 50 bucks on fogs..If i were to upgrade and swap out the oem hid kit i would have definitely matched the fogs with a more expensive kit and better bulbs. Then that relay to make them independent off ebay for like 10 bucks

Thanks for posting that pic guitarplayer. It's the first one I've seen that shows what the yellow and hyper white fogs look like side by side.

That looks cool. Having a yellow lens would cut down on the light output more than having a yellow bulb with clear lens though, would it not?

I'm running stock ballasts 35w, at that time I believe I was running OEM Philips 85122+ bulbs with a ZKW-r clear lens swap. That pic was taken right in the middle of the color band, that's what is giving off that nice purple color. Also my foglights are retrofitted with Lexus es300 yellow lens projector foglights.

A good read. Thanks for posting that thread.
Would there be much difference between buying Nokya 2500k bulbs for $20 or PIAA 2500k bulbs for $60?

'02 TL fog light bulb size
I want to ensure the 9006 bulbs are the correct size for my '02 TL. Also can I buy a set of bulbs to make the fog lights bright white? I'm tired of my fog lights looking like regular lights that are dull.

Check your manual for the proper size. Yes, you can get bright white.
