White Smoke from A/C Vents

Earlier this month, it was 105 degrees and I was driving for >2 hours straight, A/C was on the whole time. After two hours, cold smoke was coming through the vents and I freaked out a bit. But, it went away after 30 seconds.

Is this just normal condensation due to outside conditions (humidity?)? I didn't have recycle air turned on.

I'm just curious and wondering if I should be worried. Thanks.

I've had that happen before in various Hondas. Believe it is a humidity thing and normal

I've had the same thing happen before. The kids thought it was pretty cool...pun intended.

Mine does this, however, its not smoke its just condensation. It could just be the humidity or it can be the start of the evaporator freezing over.

^ that's what I was thinking too. Evaporator problem. I had mine recently replaced and I could see the air coming in through the vents.

Tech at the dealer said it was normal

It happens due to the contrast between the humidity outside and the dry air coming from your AC. Just means your AC is working great!

I had this on my old car (99 Solara). The problem was the blower fan was not working on speed 1 and 2, but was ok on speed 3 and 4. Which caused ice condensation when it was on 1-2 since no air was flowing, then when it hit 3 i get the white "smoke".
Turned out to be a burnt fuse.

Check if your fan works on all speed to be sure, if it does then you're ok.

I was always told, and maybe this is an old and outdated way to go about it, to run your fans but turn the AC off for the last 5 minutes of your drive to clear out the humidity/condensation...

Still very valid and good tip, otherwise you might end up with a smelly AC.
