Where is the oil filter located on the '05 TL

Just purchased a new TL, first time owning an Acura.. I have always believed in changing my own oil on a regular basis and have done so for the past 45 years. I have never had an engine problem on cars that I purchased new or were 5 years old or less and I kept some for many years.. It's good insurance

Cars have changed a great deal and there used to be lots of room under the hood and everything was in plain view.. Today it is quite different

I found the oil drain plug no problem..just haven't located the oil filter as yet

Appreciate your input

The oil filter is right behind the passenger side front wheel/tire.

Word to the wise from one of the members (Road Rage).

When removing the old filter, start it some until you can turn it by hand. Then completely cover it and the engine pickup fitting to which it attaches with a 1-gallon ZipLock bag. Once covered, continue to remove the old filter. When removed, it and the oil trapped by it will go into the ZipLock bag and not on your under carriage/suspension or you or your driveway.

No muss, no fuss.. works like a charm.

Oh, and torque the drain plug to 29-30 ft/lbs (or 360 inch/lbs) when you put it back in (don't forget to use a new aluminum washer).

Not a very good answer, even with the smilies. But I have noticed you can be helpful sometimes.

Actually, it is, on page 206 of the 2004 owner’s manual (shouldn’t be far from this page in the 2005 manual), but the picture is not very descriptive, and if I hadn’t changed my filter several times, I probably wouldn’t have realized that that is the hub and rotor to the left of the oil filter, and that is the only clue as to the actual location.

Very true. If someone repeatedly asks questions because he is too lazy to open the manual or go and look at the car, then you (not you Peter but you=other people) can get on him, but try not to drive the noobs away before they have a chance to learn what they are doing.

Excellent suggestion. Will try that next time mine is due. Hope I remember since it will be several months with the amount that I drive it now.
