Where do I pay tax ?
Guys,
I live in SC where new car purchase tax, for this price/type of car (Acura TL) is limited to $300.
If visit a dealer in NC/GA/FL and buy the car and drive home in it, do I pay the sales tax in that state ?
OR
If I have the car shipped (yes an extra $300-$400) do I pay the tax in SC ?
Any tax guru's out there,
Any and all guidance appreciated,
Thanks, Steve (BritBoy)

Complaining ? NO !
I'm VERY happy to only pay $300, just wanted to make sure where/when I paid it if I bought in another state, and that this did not change depending upon if I collected it or had it delivered.
As you mave have guessed by my 'handle' I'm originally from England and am still learning
Thanks, Steve.

Always learning
Hey TLGator, that means I'll never be able to get a TL, as I'll be learning until the day they put me in the box ![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Perhaps I should just stick with my other toys![Smile](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

Register the car with the DMV in South Carolina before you get the car. You probably have to pay the tax when you register the car (in PA, the sales tax is added on the registration form and is paid along with title fees to the state). Then you will also have the new plate when the car is delivered. This would be very difficult though if you're doing a trade-in.
