Me too!!

My '03 lease is up soon, so I am hoping to pickup an '07 early summer - probably from North Toronto.
Thornhill sounds like the perfect place for our cars, I'll be happy to join in on a group buy.

anymore?

we should at reach 5 people b4 anything further. (although 10 would get us a great deal But let's start with 5...that way, we have some leverage to work with.

1. TMLInfinity
2. Mo_man
3. Tidus888
4. warccm (maybe)

anyone else seriously considering this as well?

I think with the amount of people we have plus perhaps a few more, we can get some more leverage when it comes to asking a discount. Perhaps.

But the thing is we gotta decide ona a place to tint.

There's:

Thornhill Tint
FX Auto
Audio Heaven.

Kinda considering Audio Heaven since Knockz is goin there.

thornhill

I would say we should go with thornhill. they seem to know about our cars and luxury cars in general when it comes to Navi disruption and what not.

any other suggestions/reasons we should try somewhere else?

price

So I finally spoke to Rich @ thornhill today.

Here's the breakdown of the discount

If we are 5 people

Reg. Price = $270
Discount Price = $220 w/ moleskin and lifetime warranty

If we are 10 people

Discount Price goes down to $200 even w/ moleskin and lifetime warranty

Note: downside is that we all gotta go on the same day but i'm sure we can work something out about that.

Whoever is interested, pls lemme know asap so I can make a date for the tint job for us. Mid to late april is good. How does a weekend sound to everyone...is a saturday around that time of the month good for everyone?

K i'm down for that. I'd like to aim for mid april. On a weekend would be suitable.

I think we betta confirm with him what kind of tints he offers etc and if there is a price difference between em. I'm not sure if we can get 5 ppl for that 220 discount but perhaps 3 ppl he'll make an exception?

I didnt' see too many replies.

only 2???

Rich especifically asked about our cars as he has done many b4. He does not use metallic tint on TL's with navi. He didn't say exactly what kind of tint but i'm sure it is suitable for our cars.

$220 sounds great...but we need 3 more people to join in on the discount. I guess 10 people is outta the question lolz

tidus888, how many of ur friends r in on the discount? lemme know asap so I can get back to Rich.

p.s. If anyone else has a especific question regarding tint film...feel free to talk to rich...super cool dude to talk to. If not, I'll ask him when I know exactly how many we are that want the tint done @ $220

Just got back from Audio Heaven (audioheaven.com). Got all the windows tinted with a dyed film and moleskin put in all 4 doors. Cost me about 260 total including taxes.

While waiting there were a few others getting their cars tinted as well and each said they were recommended this place. All three of us drove out there from Mississauga. Actually a lot of cars came through there during the day to get tinted. It was pretty busy.

Anyways... the look... it looks good. I could post pics when i take them but it looks just like every tinted car posted anyways.. Close up though it looks perfect. I'm not a tint specialist but it looks damn good to me in the corners and stuff. Gotta give it about a week to dry and everything should look perfect.

I'm gonna send Jeff a link to this thread and hopefully he can jump in here and throw out a deal for you guys.

It looks like you may get 5 or more to go for the tints.

Lifetime warranty on color changing and that stuff.. but no warranty on fading. The dyed tints will eventually fade like all do. But if they turn purple.. you get new tints.

So what % did you get again?

Did you tint your windshield? I heard there are clear tints now that you can put on your windshield. it does not inhibit vision but atleast it protects from UV rays to protect the dash from the sun.

Also, are you going to turn off your auto dimming feature on your rear view mirror since your rear windshield is now tinted?

It is something i've been curious about.

Got 35% all around. During the day when its sunny out its kinda light. But because I have black interior it stops it from looking too light. At night it looks really good. Nice and dark.

I didn't do anything to the windshield and will not touch that. Never did before.

As for the auto dimming. Last night i did notice everything lookin too dark. I just turned it off and everything was much better. Dunno if its something I have to turn off.. I'll check it again when I drive at night and see. It should be fine if left on though as it senses when there is too much light.

I need to get my windows tinted as well and I am leaning towards Audio Heaven. They have been many car club affiliates and have build up a pretty good reputation. Any bad reviews about them?

the tints that Audio Heaven provides are great but they fade.

I think Knockz was telling me. Which isn't a super big deal but i just dun wanna go through the hassle of re-tinting afew yrs down the road.

Thats true with any dyed film though. They will eventually fade. Unfortunately on our cars with GPS we don't have much of a choice. I think the only other choice we have is ceramic tints. But I don't know much about them.

If you don't have GPS you can get the metallic film at Audio Heaven and that doesn't fade so its just as good.

I got my tint done last week from them. Went with the dyed film. Looks good. I haven't even rolled down my windows yet though. Will do that tomorrow. They installed the moleskin and everything.

If you go with AH give Jeff a call.

I've also seen recommendations for them in the Toronto accords forum.

I have made up my mind. I am going to go with Audio Heaven.

Mo_Man, i think we should go to Audio Heaven.

I called Thornhill Tints and they offer the same kind of tint (SolarGard) as Audio Heaven. Thornhill offers a few other varieties though but regardless, all tints i believe fade over time.

I am trust Audio Heaven a bit more since several people who replied to this thread have gone there.

And if there are 3-4 ppl going to tint there, i'm sure we can work out a deal with the place.

AH, told me they offer 5, 20, 35 i think. Lower the # the darker obviously. They don't tint windshield for legal + safety reasons i guess.

K i'm gonna talk to Knockz again

Hi Douglar,

can you pass me the # of that Formula One place?

They use ceramic?

What are the benefits of that again? Does it affect GPS?

So TMLInfinity,

you wanna go with Audioheaven?

If they are using the same tint film and lifetime warranty with moleskin, I don't see why not. lemme know ok.

What is the damage though???

the Ceramic won't fade like dyed tint and it won't affect GPS like metallic based tints.
You guys should really read this post on another forum it explains everything you need to know about having the 3G TL tinted and what to look out for. /forums/showthread.php?t=53336

let me know if your going to go to the detail shop because my brother is trying to get his done so maybe you guys can get a group buy going there.

Sup Mo_Man,

the damage is 179. And 15 per window for moleskin.

The owner (Jeff) said we can prob work out a deal.

But i'm gonna check out Formula One as well since Douglar talked bout it.

For sure i'm down for getting this done in April but a bit more effort in research doesn't hurt right?

I talked to "The Detailing Shop".

Talked to Shawn... Two ppl work there, Shawn and Adam.

I asked em bout the ceramic tint vs. Dyed tint and they seem very knowledgeable in telling me the differences.

Formula One is the only one that produces Ceramic tints that they got. It is also one of the highest branded tints from what I heard on forums + he also mentioned that too.

They offer tint % of 5, 25, 35, 50. not sure what exact % figures are but those are the rough estimate figures from what i can remember. Forgot to write it down.

Price is $335 including moleskin on all 4 doors and they take off panels etc... 4 hour job per car. His next 3 saturdays are booked.

I asked him, "what if me and 3 others get our TLs tinted?", then he says: "if you pay in cash, i can eliminate the tax but I can't go any lower as Ceramic tint is really expensive".

It sounds like a good deal. yes it is double or so that of Audio Heaven but the Ceramic tint offers heat rejection properties better than Dyed film and Ceramic does not fade.

35% tint offers 52% heat rejection while 50% tint offers 49% heat rejection. Since my focus is on heat and UV rejection, I think i'm opting for the 50% tint. I realize it is light but i'm gonna ask for it all around.

I don't know if he tints windshield. I think thas illegal too maybe?

Anyways, lets get coordinated on this. Mo_Man, you still in? What about your bro Douglar?

Please PM me or Mo_Man.....

Still unfortunate that his saturdays are booked for next 3 weeks so not sure how we gonna run this thing. Maybe we go in separate days?

damn

TMLInfinity, i'm still in....but $335, damn dawg u killin' me with that

IF we can get ceramic from FX or Thornhill for less than that, we should be rolling there instead.

BTW, how did we go from $200 to $335 I guess some of u fellas are just ballin' out of control and money ain't a thang

So we got 3 so far???

1) TMLInfinity
2) Mo_Man
3) Dougler's Bro

p.s. FYI Bro, 3 weekends from now will run us into May.

Well we considered The Detailing Shop + FX Auto cause they offer ceramic tints whereas the other places offered Dyed Tint.

Ok i called FX Auto Man....

They offer it in 35 or 15% tint.

They use the Formula One Pinnacle ceramic tint.

And there was some lady who was talkin to me and I am not entirely confident of what she was telling me as her #s were a little different after every sentence.

I think i ended it with "300 cash, no tax" but didn't give a name or ask for her name.

Can someone else please call them to investigate a bit more?

See some other guy in the previous posts on Page 1, i think his name was 'pvash'.

he was saying he got it from FXAuto but never got any moleskin cause they told him they never use it.

But i mean, what am i supposed to believe now after this conversation?

Ok can someone else call FX AUto and give a heads up reply please?

SHIT!!!!!!! pvash got it for 275..... and i said 300...oh well atleast i didnt' she didn't record down my info so we can still bargain.

I'm still leaning towards the detailing shop as they got over 30 yrs of experience.

Maybe Detailin Shop can bump it down to like 320ish or 300?

called

I called FX auto, same woman answered and quoted me $300. I told her I knew someone who got it for $250, She said ok, we can do it for $275. I told her I wanted it for $250, she said wait while I talk to my manager. she came back and said $ $275 is the discount for this season. Go figure. So I called back a couple hours later to speak with the owner(wayne) myself but he was busy and she took my number. he never got back to me. funny eh?

I am sure we can get it @ FX with moleskin for $250. If a single car is $275, we can get it way cheaper with 3-5 cars for sure. Who wants in. TMLInfinity, I know u r in coz they use ceramic tint.

I also spoke to rich @ thornhill again. He said he does use a dyed film but so do the companies who use ceramic. He said that was a dyed tint as well. I'm confused...anyone can help me with this. I thought ceramic was not dyd???

At this point I'm leaning toward FX coz I have heard some great reviews...one review on the TSX forumn.

Well we can either choose FX or The Detailing Shop.

But if FX didn't return your call, what do we do????

I think it is best to talk to the owner as i don't trust the receptionist.
-Do they take off the panels or just tuck the rubbers in?
-Do they really use Moleskin / Felt???? That statement from pvash still concerns me that they never use moleskin. "If it scratches, come back". I'm not willing to go through that hassle.
-How long does it take? The Detailin Shop says it takes 4 hours so i assume they take their time in doing stuff like this.

I'm leaning towards the detailing shop.

I know it is a bit more pricey but i'm willing to go there if they have 30 years worth of experience plus recommended by others in this thread.

I doubt we'll be able to schedule all our appointments in one day considering he says each job takes 4 hours but i'm sure if we all sign up but with diff appointment dates we can still get a discount. 335 without tax was what was discussed a while back but perhaps we can bring it down a bit more.

99% of tinters in the toronto area used a dyed tint, they may tell you otherwise and you will NEVER know.
