I thought the '04 had a factory cold air intake?

Granted it isn't the pretty polished tube that most vroom vroom cars have, but it also is not as noisy.

Hey, I'd take Louis up on the offer. I bought an Injen for $215 delivered, and I LOVE IT! It's great looking, and the sound is incredible!!!

that is correct -- factory cold air induction is standard

But have you looked at it? It's the most convoluted, constricted looking thing I have ever seen! I swear I couldn't fit all the stock crap in the big Injen box when I took it out! I know if it was engineered by Honda that it flows well, but I gurantee the Injen still allows better air flow. And the sound... Don't get me wrong: Below 4k, you can't even tell it's different, but above 4k with the throttle pinned, it sounds throaty, without sounding like an exhaust leak.

It seems as though Injen is the way to go these days as far as intake systems. I almost prefer a powdercoat over polished as I believe it doesn't build up as much heat but I guess the change in temperature is minimal so it wouldn't matter so much.

It has something called a factory CAI system yes, but since it contains a restrictor the thing is worthless unless it's removed. They incorporate a restrictor for federal noise standards.

Ever wonder why most engine parts, intake tubes et are painted black on most cars?
Cause black transters heat rapidly.

Why not do it yourself and save some bucks? Besides, it's fun to get to know your car. The Injen install isn't particularly difficult; it just takes a little time. I think it took me 3 hours, but I went slowly. If I were to do it again on another TL, it would probably take me a little over an hour.

from all the research ive seen looking for a CAI its going to be around 250ish so your about right and maybe if you waited until the 05's came out you might save a few bucks on a intake

thanks

Why would you think the 2005 is going to come with a custom CAI. It's not. They wouldn't do that from the factory. They 2005 is going to be the exact same car as the 2004. Why change? Acura is selling all they can produce.

There's no sound below 4k, man. Even under full throttle.

As far as DIY pictures; buy an Injen. It comes with instructions and pictures of what you are doing. I suppose the only vague part is how to get the bumper off, but figuring that out is fun.
